As long as Simon still gets the opportunity to do handover chats with the sports, biz and weather presenters, it's not an issue.

I like double headed presentation, but it's not the be and end all of delivering the news.

With some of the (clearly clueless) non specialists being used as sport and business presenters recently they may have been better scrapping separate presenters for them segments rather than going single headed.

I won't open up the can of worms that is the separate presenters who do the 10 minute evening summaries on BBC One at the weekends, rather than the News channel presenter. It works perfectly well for the lunchtime summaries. Laughing

Natalie Pirks is presenting the sports bulletin for the network news this evening from Lord's.

Unusual for the sport bulletin to be presented entirely on location and also unusual for Natalie to present it - normally she is reporting on a particular story and more often than not that is a London based story suggesting she might be a London based correspondent and therefore unlikely to present a sports bulletin.

I'm not sure what it added to the programme and considering the audio quality was somewhat poorer than the studio for many it was probably wasn't worth it.

Shaun Ley now on Hardtalk - recorded I would think, obviously. Wish I had kept a record of which ties presenters have worn recently to try to work out when. Wonder whether this was the reason Jane Hill presented Dateline over the weekend, which aired during Shaun Ley's shift, rather than Shaun.

Hardtalk as a programme has never been live and Shaun Ley has been a presenter for a number of years, normally presenting issues recorded over the summer or at weekends. Hardtalk requires the presenter to research (read about the work/life of) the interviewee and is not something that could be recorded in a 30 minute break mid shift, so Jane presenting this weeks dateline is almost certainly irrelevant (especially as she has presented a number of recent editions of dateline).

I've wondered how many PA's does it take to put on a show on a certain topic. If I recall correctly they occasionally meet with authors but the presenters and production staff likely don't have time to read a full book in a short time frame. Do publishers provide an abridged version or a detailed summary of the book?
