and when you type in 'promo' it shows BBC One safe, BBC Event Safe... ? I cannot view them though
If any of you have Sky, put 'Ident' in the search box. There are some three second clips of the newest Oneness idents, including the unseen Steel Drummers and Lifeguards idents (Lifeguards actually has two idents by the looks of things).

I can. Not missing much actually.
BBC One Safe is just effectively a three second BBC One slide, Two Safe is a three second Silk ident. Event safe 1 is a BBC Logo on a purple background and Event Safe 2 is the same but on a blue background. Also from the same "promo" search is the iPlayer sign in video and a CBBC ident. All expire in the year 2038

Dear god. Please don't say that the BBC intend to keep those awful BBC One idents on for another 20 years...!

Potentially, they were all silent. The blue one looked neutral and sombre enough for such an announcement.

Midnight 19th January 2038. Suspect it is the Unix equivalent of "forever" what with the 2038 thing

So they're the idents they'd use for breaking news interruptions, such as a royal death?

In my opinion, the circles idents were disastrous.

Well, I certainly wouldn't describe an ident package that lasted a full decade as "disastrous"...

It's also not the World Athletics Championships. It's the European Championships.
Easy enough mistake to make since The World Athletics Championship were held around this time last year.
I guess what I really mean, is that the World Athletics Championships isn't a particularly massive deal in the eyes of the public – at least not to the same extent as, say, the World Cup, the Olympics, or even Wimbledon is, so it'd be odd to go to the trouble of having a special ident for it.

I wholeheartedly disagree.
This is a video from some of the links on the first day of the rebrand back in 2006 on BBC One Wales:
It shows the array of styles and locations all unified through the formation of a circular centrepiece, hints of red (just hints, notice even the lovely white swirls) the clever positioning of the bespoke logo with the circular 'o' at the centre of the screen, and the variations of wonderful scores. The long formations worked a trick to tell a short story culminating in the formation of the logo/circular centrepiece. The layering of objects above and interacting with the logo is a lovely added detail.
Unfortunately the later edits ruined these idents for me; shortened length, logo on screen early over footage, red swirls in all idents, removal of layering and the awful new scores to most of the idents all transformed the package in a negative way (IMO).
But even the later circle edits are a lot better than the unedited, uninspiring and musically unaccompanied package that we have. As many argue that it justifies the cost cutting measures that the BBC are under/a new big scale campaign would cost too much to the license fee payer, I think I'd prefer a simple graphic ident rather than these sometimes random bursts of people staring at me into every programme.
