Could we see a new ident for World Athletics Championships ?

Has it ever had a special ident before?

Odd point, This year the world cup got a special idents yet the years before that, it was just football and the stadium.

I guess what I really mean, is that the World Athletics Championships isn't a particularly massive deal in the eyes of the public – at least not to the same extent as, say, the World Cup, the Olympics, or even Wimbledon is, so it'd be odd to go to the trouble of having a special ident for it.

It's also not the World Athletics Championships. It's the European Championships.

A forgivable mistake, since the European Championship Athletics is a completely new event.

They could revive the Glasgow 2014 idents.

Still annoys me they didn't bother with anything for London 2012.

But the coverage of 2012 was virtually non-stop, so there wasn't much point in creating a special ident for it because it would have barely appeared on screen. They did plenty of other Olympic-related presentation for 2012, they had the Olympic rings on trailers for months and months.

In 2014 it looked like BBC Scotland had made something themselves so network just co-opted it.

Seriously. Sausage Dogs is considered appropriate to introduce the News?

Was the continuity announcer not ready then?

There is no consistent policy, I expect there was just either no budget or no interest in doing a 2012 ident.

Despite the coverage being continuous it would still have been seen half a dozen times a day across the period.

And they did it four years later. It was the biggest event the BBC ever broadcast and presentation just ignored it.

Full normal local announcement! I can understand if NE+Cumbria had a version since it was filmed up there, but didn't seem appropriate for the news

They barely bothered for Glasgow 2014, I think somebody just noticed one of the venues was circular and cobbled something together reusing the sound from Capes.
