It seems Channel 4 has increased the brightness on all digital channels (Freeview), including +1. E4's DOG is now opaque.

I understand why broadcasters DOG their channels, the original broadcaster needs to be credited. Fine. But for goodness sake make it as small, unnoticeable and unobtrusive possible. Place it out of the 4:3 area, set it at a high transparency and piss off. (see Sky1/2/3).

I can not fathom the logic behind full colour DOGs. Viewers do not want channel logos blocking peoples' heads and they don't need a big bright bug burning away in the top corner of the screen to remind them which channel they're watching every time they glance up. A transparent DOG works just fine.

Channel marketing directors have gone mad, the situation has become absurd and unfortunately there's nowt we can do.

Looking at this now, E4's DOG is indeed bright, whereas E4+1 is exactly the same as before except it's kind of slightly further down the screen than before. More4 has never been particularly viewable DOG wise anyway and I notice C4+1's DOG, while back to how it was in the early days of C4+1, seems to have had its timings altered so it doesn't sit on the opening ad at all now.

It's always E4+1 that seems to be the odd one out whenever C4 start fiddling with the onscreen graphics. The DOG on E4+1 spent months in the wrong aspect ratio and now it continues to look nothing like the DOG on it's sister channel.

Let's hope it's a mistake (as often happens with E4), but knowing TV companies it probably isn't. I never get why channels launch with a DOG which they always end up having to tone down - though I'm surprised ITV's coloured DOGs have lasted. And if E4's is to remain opaque, I think a purple one might actually be less intrusive than white.

Also makes little sense that the DOGs seem to be getting bigger, even though TV's are getting bigger, and hence in theory the DOGs could be smaller.

E4 has now reverted back to their previous DOG, E4+1 is using a fully opaque white bug while C4+1 and More4 are continuing with last night's creations.

E4+1 is now back to normal as well.

No surprise there. I'm sure they'll try again in a few months.

I wonder if there's been some stuff being changed with transmission of the channels recently. As well as fiddling with the dogs, I've noticed an awful lot more glitching on the 4:3 --> 16:9 switches on E4 than there used to be these past few weeks.

E4 lost sound last night on Hollyoaks too. Then again though, barely a week goes by without some technical problem. Indeed thinking about it tonight the voice over on the ECP failed too.

has anybody noticed any 'corruption' on 4hd? i've had a couple of programmes on recently and seen it. only seems to happen with 4hd.

looks a bit like signal breakup on freeview or sky and happens at random points. it happened during the credits of 'the family' and it's happened a couple of times in holyoakes.

Strange listing boards on C4 at the moment.. I'm guessing these are the fail backups as they look awful! Laughing Unless it's some form of tacky festive branding.
