North West Tonight introduced a great new look in September 2007 only for it to be replaced in April 2008 with the full BBC News rebrand. Again I don't think that was intended, more likely the NWT team didn't know the big rebrand was coming.

Scrapping the three cubes into a construction centre for the big THREE. I loved these idents - overall forming the evolution of the channel as a whole.

Scotland Today and North Tonight as it was known back in the day used a temporary look between 2005 and 2006 before the two channels merged into STV in 2006 and the set and titles refreshed.

Notice that Scotland Today is still using the set from the 2003 refresh.

Always thought these were very clever, had lots of nice little touches, such as this blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment:

I also did like how the construction worker drilled into the BBC Choice logo. It looked obvious from the under construction set that it was moving towards a THREE launch.

When TWW learnt that they'd lost their franchise, they threw the mother of all tantrums and stopped broadcasting before the end of it, and sold the remaining airtime to HTV. However HTV (or Harlech at the time) weren't ready to launch properly, so there was a temporary service with the snappy name of Independent Television Service for Wales and the West.

They should have called it The West/Wales Independent Television Service...

This look for Sky News was meant to only be for the 2001 General Election, it was used until the end of September 2001.

Wasn't there something with that where they moved to the new studio early? I seem to remember there was a few weeks where they used this branding, but in the studio that was due to be launched with the following look (possibly because of 9/11?).

ITV1's original 2006 set wasn't intended to be temporary, but it only lasted 9 months . . .

We in the Channel region actually kept that music and white logo for several years I seem to recall for local news idents.
