Also, my main gripe is that it's not a new tv news channel, because someone thinks they can do it better and with better resources - it's being set up with an idealogical hatred of 'mainsteam' media churning out a stream of false and misleading information, just because it doesn't come with a very right wing blue tinge to it.

Surely it’s being set up because someone thinks there’s an audience for it?

Indeed, which is why talkRADIO has gone from having a directionless editorial agenda to constantly going on about Covid conspiracies and anything else that plays with a Sun reading C2DE demographic who are likely to be Eurosceptic.

And nothing bad has ever come from "It might be dangerous misinformation but hey, there's an audience for it!". It worked particularly well in the 30's.

So much hyperbole over something that hasn’t launched yet. I’d say there are bigger sources of misinformation to worry about than a (regulated) talk radio station or some (regulated) tv service that hasn’t launched yet... like the internet.

Bigger sources, on the internet??? Nothing is bigger than a broadcaster, a licenced broadcaster, that chooses to spread misinformation and propaganda on their channel, be that radio or TV. Nothing on the internet is bigger than that!

It's why there's a lot of rumours about an impending name change for the station. SunTALK has been mentioned, as has TalkNEWS....

I wonder by Rupert Murdoch does not simply launch talkRADIO on to television platforms? They stream online on YouTube already, and have a feel of a news channel about them, rather than a radio station.

When I watch talkRADIO you do sense it is the closest this country will get to having a Fox News style news channel here in Britain.

This thread is a perfect example of Godwin’s Law. At least wait until we know more about the line-up or gasp we actually some output to assess before we start making comparisons to the 1930s. Especially as TV news regulations mean it can’t just be TalkRadio on TV.

They've made no secret though that both this and the Murdoch project are basically being launched to counteract the supposed left wing woke bias of the UK television news media.

It’s not 1997. Things have moved on. The broadcasters are regulated, social media isn’t.

That has been mentioned (TV feed of Talk Radio). Talksport did something similar 15 or so years ago, prior to Murdoch's time, before becoming Boobnation or whatever in the evening.

You do realise that the internet is still way behind radio and television in trustworthiness? And, it still doesn't have the reach of a radio or TV broadcast in this country. Not everybody has internet, but nearly everybody has either TV or radio or both.

According to Statista, 95.5% of UK households have access to the Internet.

I can’t tell if this is a wind up or not, but I can’t have further discussions on whether or not Talk Radio or Channel 5 News (let alone the not yet launched GB NEWS) is bigger than Facebook Very Happy
