Andrew Neil has always been a supporter of Murdoch - whether its his "democratisation" of news coverage, for the people - or if its been about pushing a conservative agenda that is firmly pro capitalist. I will leave that to his conscience.

He has held people of the Left and Right to the same standards of interviews - it is not yet known if that will remain when he is leading the editorial direction or not.

No one is firmly one side or the other in all things.

The language used around the launch of this new channel, screams conservative talking points.

The woke warriors trying to stir up an advertising boycott of GB News, a channel that hasn’t even started broadcasting, are hilarious.
Even funnier is their threat to cancel mobile phone contracts of operators who dare to advertise on GB News.

I mean have they ever tried to cancel a mobile contract?!
But GB News will be ready to help. We will campaign for easier cancellation.

Neil's rants on Twitter about "woke warriors" and the "censorious left" don't bode well for GB News' stated aim of impartiality.

As someone who lives far from the so-called "metropolitan elite", the idea that all of us who live a distance from London are "fed up" of things like treating immigrants with dignity, LGBT+ rights and basic decency to everyone leaves a fairly bad taste in my mouth, as does the idea that those are somehow metropolitan values that we don't share. We are not all champing at the bit for a right-wing news channel that moans endlessly about "woke". Most of us have got better things to think about.

This channel seems wholly unnecessary, a response to a "problem" that only the originators of GB News seem able to perceive. I'd say that if someone proposed a left-wing news channel, too.

I remember a fruitless campaign that was thrust down our throats endlessly to get TV debates at elections. Took what seemed a year and a day to reach 100k signatures.

Sky News is launching a campaign to make leaders' TV debates a permanent election fixture. Sir @nick_clegg and @AmberRuddHR are backing it after party leaders avoided going head-to-head in 2015 and 2017 #MakeDebatesHappen

Andrew Neil is unhappy about potential advertising boycotts but he's simultaneously happy to ban advertisers:

Smells like hypocrisy.

Not only does the woke comments go down like a cup of cold comments in terms of impartiality of the channel in the future but it actually makes them look stupid themselves cause if they keep going on about being woke, aren't they then woke on woke themselves?

They are courting a particular audience, those who constantly complain about the BBC, or the "Mainstream Media"

Let's be real though, the second one was a Sky Ocean Rescue campaign, nothing to do with Sky News beyond being shared by the Head of Sky News on Twitter... hardly "campaigning" by a news broadcaster.
