Oh my goodness those seagulls with chips in their mouth look a but menacing lol

It looks like we might be having a break from oneness but they'll probably still put the oneness logo on anyway lol

Ok, fine, not BBC but how much are we betting that ITV use the same Christmas idents that they’ve used since the new logos were launched five years ago?

Yep - they'll still be keeping the same ones I'd say. They're not really new for us in the UTV region anymore it'll be their 3rd year on UTV.

Not sure if Julian will be doing his in vision this year now they've moved studios.

Hopefully they left him behind.

Would be nice to see something new from ITV - they could definately do something more special within the current branding.

I agree. They used to be good with Christmas branding during the 90s and early 00s, creating different characters each year that could be carried across all presentation. Nowadays something similar could be adapted across the network of channels.

To be honest, I'm more interested in what BBC Two this year what with their new look. It means they can finally use something different, the first time in years.

I’m going to guess we’ll probably have tinsel involved in the BBC Two Christmas ident - it’s Christmassy and can be curved so it’s a good contender.

Or a string of Christmas lights perhaps? Or even a curved row of baubles? The versatility of these new idents means we can expect some nice festive ones- which no doubt will get re-used in years to come.

As for the pier footage, it's not yet been confirmed if this IS actually anything to do with BBC One's new festive idents. I know someone interviewed in the article suggested it MIGHT be. But we could be barking up the wrong (Christmas) tree. We're not all that far away from finding out. What's the betting it'll be a Saturday December 1st launch, after Strictly?

Would people prefer one Christmas Ident this year or themed Ident for BBC Two and a different one/theme next year or a collection of a few this year that can be repeated for a few years?

Are you the one responsible for commissioning them? Laughing

The Christmas idents for BBC TWO could be clever adaptations of what we already have. The multi-coloured balls that move around could be re-coloured to look like glittery baubles with an extra sound effect in the soundtrack to make them sound plastic-y and bouncing off each other instead of smooshing together. The ripping material one that has just debuted could easily be adapted to look like tinsel. One of the current set could be replicated or made using multicoloured flashing lights I'm sure and would be a nice reference to Neon.

Surely the line can be a theme in itself. You could have a squiggly Christmas tree... or a squiggly snowman... or a squiggly chimney

I think the BBC specifically need to avoid pixar style idents. They should do something similar to RTE One.
