A couple of years ago Channel 5 showed a whole day of Christmas programming in August!
Its does that every year, it did it again this year in October i think.

I don’t understand Channel 5 reducing the duration of the news bulletins 4 weeks before Christmas.
It’s not as if there isn’t much happening at the moment.

Channel 5 begins it Christmas schedule tomorrow. Home & Away is now on a break leaving all year round soap Neighbours inbetween Christmas films and now the shorter 5 News bulletins.

To be honest, I've never really understood why the channel shows a half hour news programme at 5pm and then another one at 6:30pm.
When they originally launched, the main evening news was 8:30pm.

Yeah but no one watches 5 News so if they’ve got the opportunity to reduce the bulletins they’re going to jump on it.

I'm assuming this is because their news output throughout the year has been greater than their quota, so they're allowed to make up for this by reducing the output later in the year (assuming there's also a minimum weekly quota which they also have to stick to)?

I reckon BBC One will probably reveal a teaser of their Christmas pres this week.
Then they'll probably start showing the full set of pres once December comes.

So they can reduce the news that few watch and broadcast more programmes or films to get the advertising revenue in before Christmas? It isn’t much of a reduction, the 5pm is moving to 4:45 for a 15 minute bulletin moving friends to 5-6pm (could be a greater audience), followed by H&A and the main news at 6:30. The 4:45 could be good if they try to get the stories in but in a succinct manner (similar to Radio 1’s newsbeat).

UTV branded Coca Cola advert with the usual itv Christmas ident music just aired during X Factor.
Doesn't sound like we're getting anything new from itv this year.
But... you never know I suppose....

Too early for the actual idents yet even for an ad premiere

BBC One Christmas presentation I feel will air on Sunday 2nd December after the Strictly results show. You get an idea when you look at the Christmas section of the BBC website. At the moment they still have not scrapped the 2017 look, but last year around a week before the Christmas presentation, they revamped that part of the website www.bbc.co.uk/christmas
