At least there's +1, on demand, PVRs, 4Seven and the Sunday afternoon Channel 4 repeat, so plenty of chance for people to catch up who can't see the original showing.
A post on BBC Three's site suggests Thailand is/was the new home for the new generation of Keshi Heads. Japan IIRC did a live Takeshi's Castle episode to mark TBS's 50th.
Previously Challenge did various VTs that they dotted aroud, still on their YouTube Channel, particularly for their "1st ever episodes" strand - these featured various presenters and assistants including Paul Daniels, Pat Sharp and the twins, and even Knightmare's Hugo Myatt, who also recorded voiceover continuity as did Pat Sharp. Sadly all that and those programmes are long gone from the channel.
Christmas Day, sit down with the family after dinner and watch a few game shows on Challenge, a wide selection including...The Chase, The Chase, The Chase, The Chase and The Chase!
Even with their more limited library these days surely Challenge could have put a bit of a variety on over Christmas rather than just doing marathons of the same shows!
I've actually stopped watching Challenge as I'm sick to death of The Chase and Pointless. Every time I go to turn over to it and see what is on, it's usually either one of these two.
Have they just given up in sourcing older stuff that people might actually like to watch? I'd definitely tune back in if they were to get a couple of later series of Going For Gold, Stars In Their Eyes, even the last couple of Family Fortunes including the All Star Version before Les Dennis left.
That to me is what Challenge was all about, but now it seems that The Chase and Pointless are the main programmes they want to show.
The excuse is The Chase and Pointless are bringing the money in so they can invest it in something less ubiquitous. But I pity anybody who's shunning every other Christmas special to watch The Chase all sodding day.
