It's a Sky box, shouldn't it be Freeview? Very Happy

What is it taking up room from? There's been HD space on the 2 Com muxes going begging for ages and no one wants it

Yes, COM 8 has been rather empty until now

BT Showcase HD is taking up capacity on COM8. Actually - depending on where you live, the move to HD isn't a bad idea as I stipulated previously - it's now meant that the SD version on LCN 59 has since been closed from today. However, those who had only the SD version will be missing the channel in HD.

That's now released a slot from 12pm - 5am, with said stream carrying Quest+1 and Sewing Quarter, and a desirable slot on LCN 59.

COM8 has only begun to be used after we saw some level of potential into how broadcasters could use the capacity - the BBC's additional Red Button streams during the Olympics in Rio last year.

Quest+1 is extending its hours in June - 7pm - 4am.
Probably bound to happen with the BT Showcase SD channel turned off.

Update: Hochanda has announced a change in hours - 6am to 7pm. Possibly connected to Quest+1 extension.

A few changes today:

Blaze moved to LCN 80
Blaze+1 moved to LCN 83

Quest+1 has moved to COM4 - in preparation for its extension of broadcast hours on Freeview. Sounds like COM6 space is still up for grabs then...

BT Showcase SD's removal has triggered a few changes:
ITV4+1 has moved to LCN 59
True Movies on LCN 62
CBS Action+1 on LCN 74
Quest Red+1 has appeared on LCN 90 - albeit with limited hours (5am to 8am)

BBC Red Button streams have launched on LCN 602-606. They're on COM8 however.

The VHS recorder is another sign.

To be fair - unless they've changed the picture, that looks like a DVD player (slot on the left looks too small to take VHS tapes, and more like a disc tray)

More worrying is that they've use a picture with an SD Sky+ box in it to illustrate a story about Freeview Play...

The black bit on that DVD player is the digital display.

The very same model of DVD player I once had - it's a Sony DVD Player with 5.1 Surround Sound. Very early 2000s in age I believe.

Rishtey Cineplex pulled off the air on Freeview. Looks like we’re seeing a trend of channels cutting off Freeview distribution - on COM8.

Then again, it happened with COM7 last year.

Anyone watching CBS Action will have been treated to a message showing that it is moving on Freeview - LCN 39 on 2nd August.

Sounds like a good day to rebrand...

Especially if it’s moving to a substantially decent EPG slot on the platform.

Currently, The Store occupies LCN 39, so either it is moving or going as far as to completely close. ITV can’t do much with it. It’s turned into a phantom channel ever since the chatmercial block was scrapped, even more so after Blaze launched.

Update: The Store will continue - albeit on a new LCN.
