Sounds like a good day to rebrand...

Especially if it’s moving to a substantially decent EPG slot on the platform.

Currently, The Store occupies LCN 39, so either it is moving or going as far as to completely close. ITV can’t do much with it. It’s turned into a phantom channel ever since the chatmercial block was scrapped, even more so after Blaze launched.

Will this mean CITV Until 9pm?

No.

The Store operates in the late hours of ITV2+1 capacity (3am - 4am).

CITV isn’t going to extend hours anytime soon. COM4 is virtually full and at this rate there’s no way to solve this shortfall in broadcasting hours until ITV manages to create new capacity.

Looks like an exchange for an EPG position on Sky where ITVBe replaces CBS Drama on 1 August.

Shame they've not taken the opportunity to sort out the generic section. I think official it will continue after the HD channels but with Freesports set to launch on channel 95 there isn't much room left in the main general section. I suspect that those channels in the late 90s could be quite appealing considering their proximity to BBC1 HD.

Sorting out the generic section would be a nightmare. Ideal World has been on 22 since the beginning, so I doubt they would ever accept to going down the list (certainly not into their own shopping section in the hundreds). QVC have also had a really good spot at 16.

The 90s certainly could be favourable, but the offering that is there at the moment really isn't favourable to the viewer. Anything past about 83 is pretty naff (deliberately not including Vintage TV in the 'naff' ranks!) - just +1 channels that only run for a few hours of the day, Hochanda, and Keep It Country -- which is certainly an incredibly low-budget operation, albeit amusing to watch occasionally for the quality of it all. I'd say if you're surrounded by some decent channels in the EPG, then you are better off.

Chucking the crud up into one bunch, which is probably what would happen if the section was rejigged, probably wouldn't help those channels' ratings.

If a shopping section is ever introduced, I’d expect the 140s to be used; but it’s unlikely as QVC and Ideal World will wrangle for their current slots on Freeview.

There’s a compelling argument for keeping them the way it is; they’ve been long established on the platform, but there are enough shopping channels to warrant a shopping section. Even then; it wouldn’t take up much space - there are 13 shopping channels available on Freeview.

We know they'd face a battle to move the shopping channels for the reasons stated above but clearing out the placeholder channels that just broadcadt for a couple of hours overnight and moving them to 140+ (or later) would be a start.

Launching movie, sport and music subsections could also give Freeview the leverage to put the shopping channels in their own section. Alternatively could be an argument to move all SD channels to 101+ and put the HD channels at the beginning.

I'm just glad that my TV allows me to re-name and re-order the channels without having to use a favourites list to do so, and if I manually retune to add new channels, it doesn't mess up my arrangement, so I can have the channels in the order I want them and don't have to wade through shopping/chat and cheap crap filled channels on the TV guide to see what is on. My only problem will be that TVs in the future (when this one eventually breaks) will likely not have that feature so I will be forced to have the same EPG arrangement as everyone else. At least if the EPG is tidied up a fair bit that mightn't be a huge pain.

Unlike my TV set Next PVR on my PC allows me to allocate channel numbers to each channel. So the kids and news channels are staying where they are for now.

I don't see the point in moving them until new channels are allocated those LCN's.
