They reminded me of the itv characters that they used to have. Something which could work better nowadays with multi channel. Have a character/s and use them in different ways through all channel idents.

MTV did that a few years back, with a different character for each channel.

Channel 5 HD lost sound from 20:58 news after Sangeeta introduced the first news story. Ident at 9 was silent too.

I'm presuming this ident is specifically for tonight's ABBA @ 40 celebration?

Makes no sense how they'll come up with an ident for a one off theme night but then recycle the Christmas idents for the third year running.

It makes plenty of sense, on the basis that no idents for the theme night existed in the first place.

That looks like a good idea for an ident. Maybe it can be use again if ever there's a return of night fever Wink

I would like to see an additional Christmas ident though.

Just seen a different Christmas ident at the 18:00 junction. I only caught the end briefly but it appeared to have a family sat on the sofa, with a Christmas tree to the side, watching a snowy looking Channel 5 logo on the big screen.

Agreed, plus this new mirrorball ident could be used for any number of theme nights in future.

A snowy looking C5 - was it 1997? Wink

A nice simple ident. It seems that this is the way that they are trying to do Christmas idents now.

I wonder how long it will be used.

How do these work?
Can they have sponsored ident into a sponsored bumper for a programme?
