A terrible shock, particularly at so young an age. Always seemed like an unassuming bloke who had got where he was on merit and talent, rising from the ranks of BBC Local Radio and onwards.
He made everything he did look so effortless they you didn't really notice that he was so bloody good at his job.

I trust that the World/News Channel overnight simulcast will have a suitable tribute.
