It wasn't south of the Thames as you can see the Tate Modern/Millennium Bridge

Yes, I realise that now seeing the whole thing (of course you can see Tate Modern from South London too!). The give away is the western end of St Pauls, but that doesn't appear till later

It was a building opposite the Deloitte offices in London 76 Shoe Lane

Ahhh, since demolished. Was home to the International Press Centre, whatever that was

At first I actually thought the behind-the-scenes video from Capoeira was just a bunch of stills someone had stuck together rather than an actual video, but then it has audio to go with it.

It's interesting to see how much more love and respect everyone seems to have for the Rhythm and Dance idents now than at the time. Maybe idents are just like fine wine, so perhaps in 10 years time we'll all be in love with 'swimmers standing gormlessly in the sea' just as much!

I think they were slightly ahead of their time, a significant change from anything the BBC had done before but now don't look so out of place.

Certainly some are better than others, some being extremely well produced

Not the best quality, but this is an excerpt of a speech made in regards to the pitch of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

The most interesting part is a clip of the original pilot. This appears at 2:18.

This was apparently just a week before the series went to air. The studio is practically the same but the graphics were of a permanent split screen set up throughout the whole show. And as for the music.... some god awful cheesy 90's pop song!

There are other clips of the pilot elsewhere in Youtube which also shows a similarly weak music score and the same graphics.

To think it went from that to the dramatic spectacle that we saw in just 7 days is quite remarkable!

I seem to remember reading somewhere it was a last minute decision to change the music on Millionaire - hardly surprising as they had those beautiful graphics (the split screen effect was ultimately kept for the credits), a cool set, a fairly sound concept - and some tacky music to boot that sounded out of place compared to everything else!

Electronic information on demand, that will never catch on. What next, an international web of computers?

"Most sets will have it a couple of years time"- that's optimistic. We didn't have a teletext TV until 1992!

Very rare to see full episodes particularly of pre 1983 revamp Play School. However a fourth has now appeared on YouTube. ( One of the four is the episode that was broadcast on BBC Four at Christmas 2015. )

This one from 1975 has appeared today :

Interestingly both this and the 1976 episode are missing a look through the windows. Were they temporarily retired ?

A couple of people have sensibly suggested it so the strike discussion has been moved to the main forum.
