Movie Mix and Sony Movie Channel to merge - leaving the latter as the replacement for Movie Mix on Freeview and Virgin. With the recent removal of the Movie Mix Freeview licence it looked obvious that it would be replaced because both of them show almost the same films.
The change will happen on January 10th 2017.
I was going to say I hope they're not 1 hour services overnight, but then again considering I've never watched either channel I'd rather that than them take up more bandwidth 24/7, especially potential HD bandwidth.
Re: Movie Mix - interesting how they've changed it incrementally from Big Deal to a movie channel in order to keep the slot. Wouldn't it have been easier just to aquire a new slot (perhaps by sacrificing an hour of their overnight service), launch a movie channel of some description there, then channel swap and subsequentally change the hours and close the second channel at the end of the EPG.
I would expect it to launch on COM8 and in January at the earliest. Not much to see there.
As for TruTV's possible closure - the next few weeks will be exciting to see. If it does happen, it serves as a stark warning to companies willing to dump s***e on the Freeview platform just for chasing ratings. It doesn't work like that.
The Freeview ads now pushing the backwards EPG for on demand content (as well as suggesting a new TV as a "stocking filler"). Just wondering if anyone here actually uses the EPG to access shows they missed - I always go straight to the player.

I've seen it a few times on GOLD, as for catch-up I'll tend to go on the dedicated apps for iPlayer and the ITV Hub.
http://www.sewingquarter.com Essentially confirms that Sewing Quarter is launching next month. Shop 8-12 was nothing more than a stopgap for Immediate Media (the owners of Jewellery Maker) until they had decided what to do with the space. As a result, we're back to three craft channels. Nothing to see here.
As for Freeview changes I'm eager to see who will win the ex-BBC THREE spectrum on PSB3 and the EPG reshuffle plans.
