What would you say the best YTV regional Ident of recent years has been

(all dates are approximate)

The 1994-1996 one where the Y dropped into the centre
The 1996 'Channel 3' one
The 1997-1999 spinning Y
The 1999-2000 Regional ident with orginal music
The 2000+ Regional Ident with different music

By the way, Have you noticed that the music on the current 'Short' YTV Regional Ident is based on the music used 1999-2000, ie, When the revised 'long' ident with new music was introduced September 2000, they didn't change the short versions!

I think that the current ones are about the best used in recent years. Although I liked the 94 (drop into the centre idents) set, it didn't have the original YTV music, thats what spoilt it for me.

The C3 & spinning ones lacked imaginaition and they were only 2 different version with the same tune and it wasn't particularly imaginative although they did have the YTV music prominent in them.

Nowadays you have to tune in before Calendar at 5:55 to hear the music because that about one of the onlt occasions the long ident is used!

And as all other Weekday Calendar News programmes are either 'within' ITN or come straight on after ITN, Unless there is a regional programme on (Missing and Painting the Past tommorow), before Calendar and Live Lunch are the only times the YTV ident is used!

Now that's exactly why I like the '94 (drop into centre idents) because the music was different for a change. Not that usual 'Da da da Da daaaaaaa'. I also like it because they had lots of different versions, one with a white background (for the morning) one light blue (for afternoon/evening) and a really dark one for nightime. They were great.

Generally the shorter regional programmes don't seem to get an introduction and if they do, they get the short version of the ident.

One thing I was surprised to see when I first started watching YTV was that weather is sometimes introduced by an ident when at an unusua time or after a break. Carlton never went to that much trouble!

Yes this has only started occuring since the Lunchtime News moved 'within' ITN. The 1255pm Weather forecast and any others which don't directly follow Calendar News usually have an ident before them.

Also, I remember when the 'hearts' idents were first introduced, YTV went through a phase of not bothering with idents at all (at 10.30/12.30/6.30/11.00 etc) and going straight from a trailer to the programme, They seem to have stopped this now

Well I think Yorkshire should get a loyalty award. Having the same logo and 'Ilkly Moor Bah tat' music for 33 years is marvellous.
Wait: Have they changed It? Someone tell me!!!!!

I think the channel 3 one would have been good, if they used the then ITV logo, and placed the chevron on the side of the I

Funnily enough, months before YTV launched their spinney one, I said to myself they should have a rotating ident! But looking back recently, I think the zoom one is the most stylish but the background video could be a little exciting. I loved that one with Father Christmas on his sleigh going across the screen (available on TV-Ark I think)

Cheers, Asa

I'd have to agree that the 94 idents were the best. They were the most stylish and were the ones with the most imagination. The Yorkshire music on them could of been good but taking into account what other people have said, I think it was good to have a change.

Although I was surprised when the reinstated the old music on the C3 idents. Not something normally done!
