I used to really love Paul O'Grady, but he seemed to have went downhill (his show) since moving to Channel 4. The following has started to grate on me a lot..
- Buster being the star, and Paul refering to him being like Garbo or some other old actress/actor
- Those stupid singalongs / panto style things they do
- Joyce
- Paul seeming to agree and come out with a bigger story than his guest. For example, Paul would have said few weeks ago he hates chips....celeb is on saying they love chips...Paul loves chips too.
- Pretending to be talking off camera and wooops! were back on live
It's long overdue a revamp, and it was a shame that when it moved to C4 they basically took on exactly the same show. Now, nobody is suggesting turn it into Richard and Judy, but some fresh ideas would be nice.
There is also the issue of the shows regular members of the public The fact most have been with the show so long makes it all feel a bit exclusive - it would be much better if they changed them each series for completely new faces, and wouldn't be so alienating to the casual fan IMO.
As said though, the biggest problem is how repetitive the show is, but now Richard and Judy is gone I think one thing to help that would be to split it into three shorter series rather than the two over the year. That way it's the same number of episodes, but with less episodes in each series the issue of it being repetitive won't be so much of a problem.
