The constant appearances of Joyce and the kids are starting to annoy me as are the compilation "Come Home To The Best" trailers in and out of the breaks. Even "Our Cilla" was back on the sofa last week (albeit with Ross Kemp not Paul but still). It's just same old, same old at the moment.

Maybe it'll pick up by Christmas, it usually does. Confused

The trailer that shows all the 'family' transforming from normal jobs to badly CSOed amazing activities annoys me, as if anyone tunes in for any of that rubbish

With Christmas approaching it'll be 'the return of the Paul O'Grady Players' staring Cilla Black, Joyce, a load of wooden kids, The P team...etc

With this series nearing its end on 19th December, I think they should have a complete revamp of the show for its return in March 2009, as 2009 might be the last year Paul does the show as his contract concludes in December 2009.

Channel Four and Paul O'Grady seem to want to keep what they have as ratings for the show are still good, and they want to play safe.

I would love have to a variety of different guests on the show and give guests a bit more time for a proper interview with Paul. Is it me or when the show was on ITV1, were there more variety of guests on it?

The set has remained the same nearly, since the new look brought in March 2005 when they moved out of the cupboard studio three and into studio two in the London Studios for the second series on ITV1.

Would a massive revamp be good for the show?

Not answering any questions, but I was plesently surprised at how tasteful the VT just was for it being 11/11 today. Especially muting the music going into the adverts, I always hate it when a sombre video is followed by the sting music blasting out at you, really kills the tone.

I liked Martin Clune's dog accidentally coming on set during the first half, I usually miss the funny cock ups Laughing

I think today's show was one of the best Paul O'Grady shows that I've seen in ages. The interuption into the letters segment by Martin and his dog Mary was fantastic, especially when it seems to me that they try and fake surprises too much, saying that it did make a moment like that better for it, in a way.

The homeless dogs segments are always a short and sweet way to end a show, and today's bread making task was hilarious, mainly for the way that the baker had an aggressive nature was a lovely change, and the sheer look of Paul's face showing that he was not really expecting it.

Martin Clunes and Jennifer Ellison were great guests. I'm not sure about the earlier comment about guests. There are those who do appear a lot, but there's no harm in it, especially when they are good entertainers. Look at tomorrows line up for random combinations Michael Parkinson and Steve Guttenberg.

As for the special film into the advert, it was very moving. I think they did the same last year from memory, and it was handled in a very tasteful manner.

Today's show was a case in point for that: I don't know about anyone else, but I thought the long chat with Parky was thoroughly interesting and entertaining. I'd rather have that, then some feature about the P-Team. That said, we could do with a wider variety of celeb guests.

I feel Paul's great strength is his banter and reminiscing with guests (be it the celebrity ones or archetypal German chefs!), I find those bits most entertaining-- not some tedious feature with tedious people Wink

The C4 winter press pack says the series will return in February, which would be a few weeks earlier than normal.

Apparently Channel Four have commissioned Wogan's Perfect Recall to begin a 12 week run in January, which I understand would put Paul back on air in March as usual?

I have just heard from Channel 4 that Paul will end his series in mid-december and will return in early spring.

Wogan has made a new series of Perfect Recall but they haven't yet decided when it will be on, but I am sure it will be from January until March as they have a big gap left in the 5pm slot to fill.

Mid-December seems a bit odd, but it is reported Countdown finishes on the 12th too.

As for Perfect Recall - I think it depends on whether they get new episodes of Countdown filmed in time. If not, I can see it airing before Deal or No Deal for a few weeks to fill the gap, with Come Dine with Me and probably A Place in the Sun repeats at 5pm.

A new series of The Coach Trip has also been commissioned for 2009.

Is anbody else having a problem with the Paul O'Grady Show on Channel 4 on Sky in the Midlands?

All I am getting is a screen saying "The Paul O'Grady Show - Most Popular Entertainment Show, NTA 2008" but am getting the audio, or has the Sky+ box crashed? On 994 it's playing correctly.

EDIT:

Just spoken to technical at Channel 4 and apparently it's a Sky problem as they have had a 'major server crash' and affecting MOST Sky Digital and Sky+ viewers (but not Sky+HD) and is due to last for around another three hours.

Was advised to watch Channel 4 on 994 until the problem is rectified. There has been no apology on Channel 4 neither, but she said that was down to Sky to apologise for it, and NOT Channel 4.

There is sound playing, but no picture (as of yet), ah well, Simpsons on Channel 994 then!

Oh, the EPG has got stuck to read:
104 Channel 4
NOW: The Paul O'Grady Show
1800 Welcome to Sky Digital

EDIT #2:

Now 104 doesn't exist on my Sky+ box... Grrr...
104 Unknown Channel
NOW: Welcome to Sky Digital
0000: Welcome to Sky Digital

Nice to see the decs up but I can't stand this P Team nonsense - it just highlights they have nothing else to fill the show with to me. Confused
