I suspect that the reason is probably related to the accidental tweet during the Queen obit rehearsal. Since then guidelines were altered so that for certain deaths reporters shouldn't tweet about it until confirmed via tweet by @bbcbreaking. Whilst probably not in that category with Cilla being high profile I dare say they didn't want to risk a repeat incident.

I'm not sure if Paul O'Grady's Radio 2 show is pre-recorded but he started the show by saying something like "I'm feeling really good this afternoon". This was a couple of hours after Digital Spy posted an article about his reaction to Cilla's death.

It is. Somebody on DS suggested there was an announcement at the start of the show explaining that it was recorded before the news of Villa's death.
