Australia are keen to do the same with The Chase... but thats another topic...
Maybe if they livened Deal or No Deal up a bit it might do well. When I was in Australia last year the show was fast paced, upbeat and fun and completed within half an hour. There were no over the top X Factor sob stories either.

It was in The Mirror the other day that Noel is still waiting to be offered a renewed contract, sparking rumours it's being rested/axed, preferably the latter...

Indeed, looks like Deal or No Deal is on the way out in Australia too ...

It gives away just £1000 a week (or a show for the hour long editions), gets higher viewing figures and crucially has high repeat value. Deal or No Deal must give away £75k-£100k a week, has lower ratings and doesn't repeat well at all.
C4's biggest issue is establishing new shows. Both Five Minutes to a Fortune and Benchmark were decent, relatively original, formats but just could not compete against ITV or the BBC, although C4 did them no favours with scheduling - this is the time of year they should be trying out shows while The Chase and Tipping Point are off air and Pointless is on repeats. There other daytime efforts haven't been too inspiring - French Collection is like the many shows that clogged up BBC1 daytime for years.

Happy 70th birthday today to Martin Lambie Nairn, designer of the original 1982 Channel 4 logo!

Nice thought, but I can imagine he's probably too busy stuffing himself with his Channel 4 symbol birthday cake to be reading this forum. Happy to be proved wrong though.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that Martin Lambie-Nairn himself is using that badly recreated version of the BBC logo from Wikipedia, or that I can actually tell it's the wrong version.

I'm personally more concerned about the BBC ONE and BBC TWO images.

Not wanting to go too off topic...
That video at the bottom of that website is interesting. Obviously in HD and it's the first time that I can see how obviously fake the BBC ONE balloon looks in those idents.
