I don't know what's worse, the fact that Martin Lambie-Nairn himself is using that badly recreated version of the BBC logo from Wikipedia, or that I can actually tell it's the wrong version.

Not wanting to go too off topic...

That video at the bottom of that website is interesting. Obviously in HD and it's the first time that I can see how obviously fake the BBC ONE balloon looks in those idents.

If you're talking about the balloon ident stuff here : http://ml-n.com/work/bbc/ then that definitely doesn't look HD to me. Both the film background and the BBC One blocks look like upscaled SD. The film background also has some quite nasty SD sharpening artefacts.

The video file itself is 1920x1080 and almost 50 MB, frankly too big in my opinion, but if you right click and download the file (or view in full screen) you will see that the only HD content is the BBC News titles and the 'Produced whilst at Lambie-Nairn' text at the top right

Oh dear! Heads will role for that faux-pas.

Things are marked 'Official - Commercial' for a reason. Rolling Eyes

However, isn't this only the sort of role also suggested for a 'BBC Studios' commercial arm for Auntie?

Heads won't role, as the individual isn't the first to do this and he won't be the last.

Seems to be a current trend though - why release a press release when you can get Steve Back to zoom in on it with his lens and get the general gist out by not bothering to cover your notes up en route to and from Downing Street? Is the government that hard up they can't afford a spare sheet of A4? Very Happy

I have to agree, either someone planned this or wanted to get more attention to this sale.

People are suggesting that this is an accident and 'heads will roll', however it seems very similar to the 'bat people' incident in The Thick of It. Wouldn't be surprised if it was photographed on purpose for the purpose of testing the water. The DMCS however does seem to have a vengeance under Cameron to obliterate every public sector cultural institution. It's just the BBC left, and the Tories don't so much have the tanks on their lawn but rather have a submarine in the pond, a sniper in the front garden and a nuclear bomb coming through the ceiling and all that while refusing planning permission for their planned extension.
