Not wanting to go too off topic...
That video at the bottom of that website is interesting. Obviously in HD and it's the first time that I can see how obviously fake the BBC ONE balloon looks in those idents.
If you're talking about the balloon ident stuff here : http://ml-n.com/work/bbc/ then that definitely doesn't look HD to me. Both the film background and the BBC One blocks look like upscaled SD. The film background also has some quite nasty SD sharpening artefacts.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that Martin Lambie-Nairn himself is using that badly recreated version of the BBC logo from Wikipedia, or that I can actually tell it's the wrong version.
