Reports today that the team is unhappy because Phillip and Holly are the only ones to have got a pay rise for the extra half hour.

With good reason then.

All those three stories are sourcing the Daily Star as the source of this story

I can now see why whataday didn’t mention that in his post.

That's not the reason I didn't include a link and I resent the implication that I've tried to mislead when I clearly signposted it as something that's been reported rather than solid fact.

But as far as this story is concerned the way it's written suggests it's true. They quote ITV saying they don't comment on contracts and then quote an insider saying they've been given "extra staff resources" in order to make up for the extra half hour. That smacks of the ITV spokesperson giving an official answer then speaking off record.

Even if not true it is yet another sign of the tabloids turning on Holly and Phillip and therefore worth mentioning.

At risk of speculating the opening sentence of his statement could also be interpreted as a response to the negative comments that have been made in the press in recent months... "You never know what's going on in someone's seemingly perfect life, what issues they are struggling with, or the state of their wellbeing - and so you won't know what has been consuming me for the last few years."

I am looking forward to the day that someone's sexuality doesn't make front page news.

I do agree, though I suppose the angle on this one is that he's been married to a woman for a long time. I guess, in that respect, this could be a very helpful situation for someone having a similar experience.
