I think the "ITV twist" will just be having Dermot O'Leary host it.

Jokes aside though, rotating hosts is a terrible idea for a show like this. It's something I've said countless times in regards to The Nightly Show. The only reason it works on HIGNFY is because the show, really, belongs to Paul Merton and Ian Hislop. The guest host acts as the referee while Ian and Paul actually carry the show. Chat shows and topical shows are entirely dependent on its hosts and the style they inject into it to make it their own.

I'm pretty sure ITV is beneath him, but even his guest stint presenting Film 20## was a joy to watch. I understand Black Mirror et al is probably giving him more creative joy, but like you, I'd love for the wipes to come back... Providing it was like the BBC Four days, and a third of the show isn't devoted to another comedian doing their thing.

Think it was a bit of a backwards step calling it that. I see the appeal of naming a show in relation to the schedule that surrounds it (Later with Jools Holland following The Late Show, Not the Nine O'Clock News etc.) but I'm not looking forward to hearing a CA say "After the news, After The News".

So after the ITV News, the CA says...

"The Jonathan Ross Show is after a brand new here on ITV, after the news."

I knew it was a terrible name.

That's all very well and good, but if the show has to deal with something hard hitting, they can't really lead into that with some fun wordplay.

I agree with most on here though. I was under the impression there would be more to it than just serious news discussion.
