Don't forget... 289 is one down from the movie channels - a very good position in my books - where is BBC Three... I only know this because of watching it so often [115] but it's in the middle of a load of similar channels.

But 115 is much better than the old BBC Three/BBC Choice slot of 160... At least Three is now close to UK Gold, Living and Plus - themselves popular channels, and in a much better slot than E4 or ITV2. (There are continuing rumours that ITV2 will move to Plus's slot at 118, and Plus will relaunch as ITV3/Gold?)
Correct me if I'm wrong or being extremely dumb - I'm sure you will - but wasn't FX already broadcasting in the US before it reached the UK? If so, wouldn't that explain why the graphics look "american"?
Yep, FX has been going in the US for quite a few years.
The reason FX isn't going to be showing 24 is, as far as I'm aware, because it's more profitable for Fox to sell the rights to someone else (eg Sky) than to show the series on its own channel.
