Interesting to see both ITV News London and ITV National News virtual sets in one photograph, I thought it would just be a black space in-between:

I guess for 'special coverage' of something, the studio would play host to some experts etc, so a 360 degree studio would be needed.

Will be interesting to see what they do for the election - would make sense to make use of the London set as an interview area.

Didn't they have a seperate set for the 2010 election?
Even if using the current set anything has to be better than the 2005 weird mix of the theatre of news with square desks on an angle approach.

They did but the prominence of black and the vastness of the set was I suspect due to the look of the time. I'd expect something more along the lines of the colours we have now and something more understated.

Decision 2012 was possible the ugliest set design from ITV News. I'm surprised they didn't replace the news desk with green block and key in a fake desk.

Assuming you're on about the US election coverage 'America Decides 2012', I don't think that they were ever aiming for anything more than a simple recoulouring of the news set.

Yeah, even at that, things like the panels on the desk looked terrible.

I've noticed in the last week or two that lives and weather forecasts originating from GiN are now in HD. Packages are still SD.

Does it really matter if hd or sd? I can't really see the difference - tv looks like tv to me

Does it matter we're broadcasting in widescreen? Its just the evolution of broadcasting. Glad they've finally made the HD switch.

There was an upgrade two weeks ago. You can certainly notice the difference.

You need to sort your equipment out then, or visit Specsavers (or both)

Tonight's forecast with Amanda Houston appears to be from Millbank which is upscaled.

Unless it's for time, the way Nina Hossain cuts off guests is a bit annoying.

With the exception of Charlene White presenting and Martin Stew reporting, all of the packages on tonight's 6 have been from freelancers, along with a ton of padding.

It's almost like a more polished London Live bulletin!
