You sometimes see them on Pick but it's quite rare you do.

Sky has decided to cancel the recent 'upgrade' to their standard Sky+HD STB homepage known as R016, notified here.

Some people had illogically complained that they couldn't "read the buttons" on the R015 version . . . obviously not realising that they are supposed to be icons: you didn't have to be able to read the text in the pictures:

I did think that R016 (no pics available) was a retrograde step (reverting the top half of the homepage to the large icons of a previous version). Fortunately Sky have seen sense.

I agree in not cluttering up the home screen with icons, but I would have made the 'settings' icon slightly visible.

I think most of the R016 changes were to do with the homepage and the Top Picks carousel.

I think this is an R016 shot:

This appears to be another one:

There was a third one that I saw on skyepginfo but I can't find that at the moment. If the Google cache is anything to go by there was a big multipage thread on the Sky Community forums that had images and discussion about R016 but that appears to have totally disappeared and wasn't around long enough for Google to cache it.

What was the point in changing it? It just feels like they're changing things for the sake of it.

To me the whole Sky EPG is a user unfriendly mess. A facility to use the yellow button to switch between the HD, SD and related channels is well overdue, if a full reshuffle to make the channel numbers logical is not possible.

There were three different TopPicks layouts on R016 that were trialed publicly, the images of them are still available here:

The idea was to address the complaints from some customers about the homepage redesign introduced in R014, mainly relating to the size of the tiles.

Considering Sky 1, Living and Atlantic don't really have clearly defined boundaries, especially since Living shifted into a more generic drama channel, I wouldn't be surprised (or too sad for that matter) if it disappeared as the shows fit in on the other two channels. Trouble and Bravo could arguably still fill a hole in today's landscape more so than Living could, although Bravo would be facing stiff competition from Dave and I have no idea where Trouble would source its programming.

Doesn't help that they stopped the original commissions for Living. Turning it into a generic drama channel from a women's channel was not the best idea.
