How the hell can it be right that Radio 1 has a stronger visual identity than BBC1?

I'm quite glad. 10 years was far too long and I'm glad we're getting something new and (probably dissapointing but) refreshing.

Be careful what you wish for!

I really hope that there is more than the 2 (well 4 since they have 2 varients each) idents in circulation. Since how cheep they look, surely there must be more.

Seem to remember that 'Hullness' is what won the City of Culture bid. It was a lot of nonsense then as it is now so gawd knows what this package is supposed to be about.

If anything the multiple quick edited shots of various people gathering around that good numeral logo invoke an idea of 'oneness'

Yes, we're sure. An article quoted earlier in the discussion (which I am too lazy to find) states that these are replacing the circles longterm. Also, thanks for reminding me of 2 better idents...

Yeah well done BBC Creative team, you've done a good job of tricking us... So when are the actual idents coming out?

They have been introducing them as the new look BBC One so sadly it looks pretty definite that they are here to stay

They are long-term. Previous temporary New Year ident sets were not prefaced by a newspaper article with interviews given by Charlotte Moore and the creatives. Plus the fact that Martin Parr is producing more for events throughout the year, such as rugby and Wimbledon.

Yep. It sucks. Welcome to 2017 on BBC One-ness.
