Surprised there wasn't a thread brought up about Fidel Castro's death.

Especially since he used the television medium to consolidate his power. From Timothy Green's The Universal Eye, a 1972 book about television around the world, here's an excerpt on how Castro used the TV network set up by Goar Mestre to address the nation after taking power:

It's France's second primary vote for the right and centre candidate for President tonight. France 2 is using Franceinfo's studio for their coverage, while Franceinfo is simulcasting the radio station output from Radio France's studios.

There's been a lot of breaking news about Cuba recently… but here are some news from Cuba. A newscast from Cubavisión in 2014.

That's Cubavisión's international newscast. This, by the way, is what their domestic news looks like:

In keeping with the Latin American theme, here is a state news bulletin from Paraguay in the Guaraní language:

The Guaraní language is notable for the fact that it is one of the largest Amerindian languages, and is unique for the fact that it is one of the few indigenous languages in the world widely spoken by both indigenous and non-indigenous populations.

Sorry - this may have been covered somewhere else. Was the Franceinfo studio used only for a news special, or is this where the weekend edition now comes from?

It was used for the Right and Centre presidential primary special, which included the Sunday 8pm news only. I suspect the Franceinfo studio may be used again for future election programmes.

Too bad that France 2 doesn't use that studio all the time. Not only is it visually effective, but it also underscores the links between France 2 and Franceinfo.

I mused aloud how the FranceInfo studio would work well for Tele Matin just after FI: launched.

Sofa's, Windows to watch the daybreak, people in the background etc.

Talking of Tele Matin - they have been in the cupboard studio for the past three days. Is there a problem with the normal studio or (more probably) a long duration French tv technicians strike at the mo?
