Yes, in the race to find a slide, BBC Northern Ireland won. Wales and Scotland were probably having lunch.

Speaking of slides and alike, a couple of weeks ago there was a great cock-up into Grandstand. The BBC One Ident got played out in full with an announcement right at the end "This is BBC One and we hope to join Grandstand shortly" followed by several slides ranging from Radio Times to the weather before arriving at the fault slide. There was also a false start to Grandstand too.

Obviously faults are a rarity, so the con anno didn't know which button had the fault caption !

She would only have had access to her mic and mini-disc faders. It was up to the director to cut up the slide.

I don't think Cardiff even put a slide up. It was branded just "BBC ONE" and the announcer didn't sound like one of the Welsh ones.

Indeed... Not the finest hour for Network...

We had to run Grandstand titles three times, before Network found us. You know, sometimes when things go wrong, you can review the programme on tape and think "well, that wasn't as bad as I thought it was." For once, when I watched the tape back, I thought "well, that was even worse than I thought it was."
