Best Double Act

Nobody's answered your post, so tfor my answer I will go back a few years. The best double act...in news presenting was...Sir Bob friend and Anna Botting. Serious when required and so so so funny when the story dictated it. Anna was always laughing with Bob. Live at Five was never the same again after Bob left.

tv three news- Ireland

Ronan is correct when he describes the new look as American Local news 80's style. They should remove or Reduce the massive fonts, Reduce the TVThree news Logo, and removing that horrible spinning *three news* over the opening headlines . But they have at least tried.

I read this forum every day. There are very interesting threads, very interesting posts, and however some sad sad idiots who post crap on here. Leave BBC World alone. he/She writes often,and has posted great articles here.

Anyhow, to add another rant....
The correspondent Michael Linnane is the worst, and I mean *Worst* reporter/correspondent on RTE.
He sounds like a DJ from BallyDung-FM, He cannot say one sentence without giving it the bog-man accent. A truly terrible voice for broadcasting

This is the state broadcaster after all. It should *Not* be the same newsreader on both TV and Radio. And another question. (Rant) Who is that awful announcer that is on weekdays introducing programmes?? He speaks sooooo sslllooowww. He sounds like someone that should be on the HorrorChannel. RTE is good, sometimes. Othertimes they are an embarrasment.

Burning Plane in Toronto

Best coverage by far is on CNN. Its sister station CNN US is being presented by Miles O'Brien in NY and Wolf Blitzer in Atlanta. CNN International is breaking away occasionally showing CBC tv and City TV. Great coverage from the Canadian networks. Also great coverage on , believe it or not...EuroNews !! Showing a clean feed from CBC. (Damn, they just broke away !!) It looks that all passengers are safe and well, thank god.

Armed Situation in London

Sky news providing excellent coverage. The best by far. When the story broke, Sky were live at the scene, and as earlier described the civilian eyewitness was excellent in her reports. BBC News 24 were showing and reporting from several blocks away. ITV news was as usual really crap showing regional program London Today.. CNN were live showing live reports and FOX was showing Sky .

What has News 24 got to do with CNN's 25th year of broadcasting ???
Maybe I have read the title of this thread incorrectly ?
And another question... Was it not Sky News which broke this story about 9/11 first?? they received an award for their usual excellent coverage if I am not mistaken.

Re-Read my post. The point I was making was as to why programmes from the U.S. would be blocked in the R.O.I, as RTE stands for Radio telifis Eireann... !
Radio Athlone... never heard of it. The first Radio station in the Republic was indeed 2RN. It later became radio Eireann, with a national transmitter based in Athlone.I am sure that Mr. Telifis or Con or indeed RDD can explain further

Most U.S. programmes, are in fact shown on the RTE stations well in advance of them being shown on Channel 4, ITV etc.
Why they would be blocked for us viewers in the ROI is a mystery.
Get that person an atlas.... show him where the ROI and NI are...
