Taskmaster has been commissioned for four more series of ten episodes. The line-up for Series 6 is Alice Levine, Asim Chaudhry, Liza Tarbuck, Russell Howard, and Tim Vine.

I think the line-up is a strong one for Series 6 - I'm just hoping sticking with the 10 episode length won't be a hindrance later on.

The question is, has Dave ever commissioned a series so far in advance?

Great line up as always* one of my favourite shows of the last few years.

Was reading yesterday that James Acaster had let slip he was doing it and had filmed some bits, maybe they're filming series 6 and 7 together like they did a couple of the others

*though as usual it's very Avalon-centric line up, wonder who they have left who is well known and hasn't done it yet... Reckon Lee Mack and Richard Herring will appear at some point too

I reckon Adrian Chiles would be good value.

Harry Hill?

To break the chain of "how many Avalon clients can we name", I thought the Champion of Champions specials signalled the end of the series. I'm quite happy to see it's going to run for a lot longer.

Unlikely I'd have thought: https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/harry-hill-settles-1million-legal-3909497

Four more series, and then a champion of champions against the champion of the first 5

I also find it strange seeing him share a stage with, what you might call, "Mock the Week comedians". Different worlds.

I didn't know about the falling out with Avalon.

Good news but 10 episodes a series is too many - 8 was pushing it for the last couple and although 5 was too short for the earlier series better to leave viewers wanting more.

Easily though the best Freeview series outside of the main PSB channels.

Stewart Lee is another comedian who has a bit of a beef with them. When he's appeared on Richard Herrings podcast he's questioned why he's still with them, so much so I think a large section was cut out of one of the podcast recordings

Yes I agree, 10 seems too much. They film more tasks than they use so hopefully they won't be tempted to fop with the substandard ones that would normally have been cut

That and Modern Life is Goodish, in fact Dave has had a lot of excellent original commissions in the last few years.

Taskmaster has been the most successful, it's been sold abroad including an American version

Excellent news. Need to catch up with a few of the previous series at this point.

Not only that, but it has represented a change at UKTV - they've invested heavily in original content over the last few years, a turnaround from the BBC repeats network it once was.
