For 15+ years, Sky Games has entertained families across the UK, perhaps most famously with Beehive Bedlam . However, since mid-January, viewers have been greeted with a screen informing users that the service will be closing on the 31st January.

It's the end of an era, as I remember playing Sky Games many times growing up. Although, I can't imagine it was making any money and most of the games were at least 10+ years old anyway.

Beehive Bedlam was a firm favourite of mine when I was younger.

With the dawn of the internet, it's made many of the Interactive services that Sky offered redundant, that's probably why there's nothing left.

Therefore they really need to badly redesign the Sky+ remotes, remove the Interactive and Box Office buttons and add On Demand and Box Sets buttons.
And the Text button needs to go, complete with the outdated prompt telling me to access Teletext services to press 'TV' then Text. It generally just needs a proper overhaul!

Childhood Memories... When did Sky Active disappear? (as in essentially the rebranded Open..)

It's only the games that are closing, under the Interactive tab is the "My Sky", the upgrades and the Help section. If you don't have a Sky ID this is often the only way to get your bills, upgrade and what not, short of phoning up.

On-Demand used to exist, sort of - press TV Guide then press Red - but for some reason it's been removed (since they added the Home tab) so you can only now get to it from the Home Tab -> Catch Up TV (or do a search).

The main problem with the Box Sets is the way they're presented, which is more of a software issue than a handset issue. Plus you can't say "download for me all episodes of Modern Family" - you have to do it all individually.

As for the Text button - it still launches BBCi on the BBC channels and does something on the Sky channels so it's not totally redundant, but yes the message is out of date, again a software issue.

So it wasn't just me that used to play those games when I was young.
I'm surprised it's made it this far, advanced consoles and fast internet made many Sky services obsolete by 2010. Still, it'll be missed.

Beehive Bedlam can still be played here if any of you miss it that much Wink

I'm suprised this is the last remain of the Sky Games website!

And to take it back to those golden years as well, here's the original music from Beehive Bedlam which I always thought was a brilliant piece of music...

Yes, it usually meant I'd pressed the wrong button on the remote and I was going to miss 30 seconds of whatever I was trying to watch.

I've never found the music. Last time I heard it was 8 years ago. It was used for the phone connections dial thing.

Quite a few channels still carry Teletext. TV5Monde doesn't have digital subtitles (or didn't last time I watched Fort Boyard).

I remember one of the first things I did when we first got Sky Digital was play Beehive Bedlam for ages. It never even occurred to me that we had a ton of new channels.
