ITN have the studios they have because of cost cutting. ITV News London I am sure would like to have their own dedicated studio, which they had from 2004-2012, before being lumped in with the national news bulletins.

Such a huge building 200 Grays Inn Road, but ITN can not open another 3,000 Sq Ft studio to accommodate ITV News London or other productions. It reveals the money not being spent on news production at ITN.

It's a big building, but it's not ITN's and they don't occupy all of it. Where would a 3000 sq foot studio go in a office building like that exactly? The original 2 are proper high ceilinged studios in a deep basement, they can't just build another one of them.

Even if there was a free studio available the London news would still share a studio with the national news. It's all about saving money, running two studios unnecessarily is far more expensive than running one.

It's not even about cost cutting, it's just about not wasting money. ITV News London doesn't need a separate studio. There is ample space in Studio 1 for both programmes seeing as the physical sets are little more than a desk. It would be a total waste of resources to have them in separate studios.

Those plans for the south bank look horrendous. It doesn't look like it's creating any extra office space at all as claimed.

It looks really quite impressive in my opinion, an improvement on what they've got.

Well the decision has been done and it looks like ITV will have a firm hold on Studios 2 and 3 at Television Centre from Spring 2018.

This means Studio 1 will be the main entertainment studio for other productions. Jonathan Ross will be the first talk show to test the newly refurbished Studio 1 in the autumn this year. I can see Graham Norton moving to Studio 1 from Spring 2018. I wonder what other shows would like Studio 1, with 10,800 Sq Ft of space and the possibility of a large studio audience.

So, the next series of Saturday Night Takeaway is likely to be the final series at TLS. I'm sure Ant and Dec will mention that fact, and probably have an extra special End Of The Show Show to commemorate the studios at the end of the series. The SNT opening titles and guest announcer intro will have to change, especially if the show moves to studio 1 at TV Centre.

So GMB etc will not move for another year? and Studio 2 and 3 at wood lane are free for anyone to use for a whole year? by that time other extra studios will have also come on line?

Riverside may have re-opened by then - I'm not aware of any other studios planned. LH2 will probably have a dedicated gallery by then (rather than relying on an OB truck parked outside) - but it's not a 'proper' studio (and will presumably be dedicated to Fremantle productions for ITV?)

I dares say the plans will be revised to use fire prof calding.

Well I'd expect that anyway. The issue seems to be retro fitted cladding and of course this won't be a local authority development

that means nothing, the fires Oz, France and Dubi were all private built and used fitted cladding aswell, Council built has nothing to do with it.
