Does anyone know what will happen to the new BBC Interactive Sports channels on Digital Television and Digital Satellite after The World Cup and Wimbledon Tennis?

Will there be Trailers for BBCi, A Caption for BBCi and 1kHz Tone , Test Card and Music, Ceefax and Music or even a Blank Screen.

I am sure that they would have to put something on the television screen to keep the BBCi Sport Channels On-Air. Confused

I hope they show windmills for a day and then have perfect day in widescreen.

I'd imagine they only have the two channels on a temporary lease from SDN. If the Beeb/Sky consortium is true then they may soon have more space of their own to accomodate channels on.

Hmmm... 24-hour pres channel, featuring old trailers, idents, random news bulletins from the last 50-odd years, BBC promos and corporate films, testcards and tuning signals... please! And can I apply to be channel controller too?

The ones on DTT will probbaly just close - they are on hire from SDN (they are 2 of the former ITV Select channels

The ones on DSat will be used for the same things they've been used for in the last year or so - Regional News, FA Cup, and the like

I certainly hope they close on DTT, anything to restore the BBC bandwidth which seems to have shot down to near un-watchability standards on all BBC channels.

They arent likely to make much difference to the BBC's other channels when they close, as the two sport channels are on SDN's multiplex, not the BBC's, so arent taking away much(if any) bandwidth anyway. I agree though that the BBC's picture seems to have gone downhill recently - Choice the other night was unwatchable!

I take it there would be no talking over the credits.

You think choice is unwatchable? Try watching Buffy on BBC2. My VHS copies are higher res tham them.

I hope they get the pics sorted with the second MUX. Roll on BBCMUX2
