I'm all for dropping live action from idents. My favourite idents that include live action are few and far between, but if Christmas 2012 is anything to go by, then for goodness sake, keep BBC One away from the CGI.
This "Love 2013" branding feels very flimsy. No substance or greater idea behind it.
I am assuming this is just for use throughout January. Could it be that this is some kind of stop gap until new branding is introduced? It is about time for a refresh, and with BBC Two supposedly getting a new look and a HD version soon, maybe they will both re-brand together?
I can't quite make up my mind on this one - on the one hand they're awful, but on the other they're brilliant. I think I'm probably hating the "Love 2013" tagline but loving the animation of the ident - kind of old school BBC4. The idea could probably quite easily be used for a set of CGI idents with various images created and allowing BBC1 to refresh without completely dropping the circle theme - I'm imagining some kind of world map before the news. I think though for it to work as an ident set BBC1 would have to drop the red colour scheme as I think sticking to one colour would be too limited for such idents.
Yeah, I think the tagline is typical marketing fluff but the execution is nice - looks good visually and scope for many variations. Amazing they can commission this yet knock up a dodgy Africa one at the same time! Wonder if they've got anything planned for next week just to keep the presentation fresh, considering what the other side will be up to.
I like it. The presentation looks good onscreen and I hope they think about introducing some more across the year. I would like some more computer generated idents.

love 2013 is just a lot of meaningless marketing fluff. i very much doubt the moron who came up with it even watches bbc one.
the ident itself is completely soulless, clinical, and generic. you could stick it on itv1, sky1, and it would work. complete pap. it's not classy, funny or clever. it's none of the things you associate with bbc presentation.
it really looks like bland cinema 4d tutorial project they've stuck a bbc logo on.

BBC One needs a rebrand really, Are they trying to cheap scape it with this Love 2013 thing, sure the graphics are nice but really.
