Hello FORUMERS !,

Confused: Does ITV Regional Weather Have A Jingle To Accompany The Animation That Goes Into The ITV Regional Weather On The ITV Regional News Programmes In All The Regions Or Do Some Regions Have A Jingle & Some Don't If You Know What I Mean ?.

Am I Right In Thinking That ITV LONDON Don't Have A Jingle Or Is Anybody Aware Of Any Other ITV Regions That Don't Have One Either ?.

If ITV LONDON Are The Only Region Not To Have One I Wonder Why This Is ?

I Do Know The Answer To Your Question. But I Fear If I Was To Reply, It Would Be Incomprehensible When Written With Every Word Capitalised.

But yes, some regions have the jingle and some don't, forgive me for doubting you here but I suspect you already knew that. Rolling Eyes

Does any Forumers out there in ITV Land know which Regions do have the jingle & which don't ?

ITV London dont. I think thats because the ITV NC never had one and the news comes from the same place (i.e. ITN)

I know that ITV Wales/West/Westcountry all do.

we call it a sting ...jingles are for radio!

It is down to the discretion of the weather dept of each region if a sting is used. All the ITV regions have quite flexible guidelines to follow when it comes to programme stings, beds graphics, as long as the main 'overall' programme style corresponds to ING 'house style'.

At Anglia, we have a generic ITV animated weather graphic with a musical sting which we chose to use (although happens to be the old sting, cos it's better!). We also have a sponsor for our UV watch, which we tag onto the end of the main prog weather. I don't know if other regions have a sponsor for the UV.

Regions have a sponsor for their weathers ie, Meridian have P&O ferries, Anglia have Norwich and Peterborough BS etc. These all have a sting in and out of the weather coupled with the ITV sting.

Obviously, we have to use the Sponsor's sting, but the ITV sting is fairly flexible.

During GMTV bulletins we use a GMTV graphic to bumper whoever sponsors GMTV weather - it's effectively GMTV weather as opposed to 'anglia weather' at this time!

As far as I'm aware, all the ITV regions (except London, STV & UTV) all have a sting with a small jingle so to speak. Apologies for going slightly off topic but as far as I'm aware these are the current ITV regional weather sponsors:

Anglia: Norwich & Peterborough Building Society
Border: BMIBaby.com
Central: BMIBaby.com
Channel: BMIBaby.com
Granada: BMIBaby.com
ITV London: Topps Tiles (I think they're all week now Confused )
ITV Wales: BMIBaby.com
ITV West: FlyBE.com
Meridian: P&O
STV: (Don't know)
Tyne Tees: BMIBaby.com
UTV: Progressive Building Society
Westcountry: FlyBE.com
YTV: Yorkshire Building Society

Slightly wrong.. Topps Tiles sponsors weekdays and The Blue Man Group sponsors London Weekend Weather on weekends.

Meridian Weather is SeaFrance, not P&O - or has it changed recently?

It changed very recently. So it's now been sponsored by at least three ferry operators over the years, Stenaline, SeaFrance and now P&O - P&O sponsored the Airwatch back in about 1999 too.

It's also been sponsored by two insurance companies; Legal & General and Sunlife and by Beaulia National Motor Museum on two seperate occassions (actually I may have made that up).

Not sure why I'm such an authority on Meridian Weather Scratch Head

stv weather does have a sting, and is sponsored by flybe.com.
