Simon McCoy did Breakfast, did David do the 6-7 am hour ?

I don't think he will leave Reporting Scotland - he's the only full time male presenter, health correspondent David Henderson occasionally presents, and continuity announcer Rob Matheson only does summaries ( he was on Breakfast this morning ).

I like Gillian, I would like to see a lot more of her on Breakfast, I suppose she may present the news summaries on Thursday and Fridays now that Kate Sanderson has left for five News.

Also, whatever happened to Brenda Paterson (ex Reporting Scotland, who also appeared for a while on N24)??

I seem to rememember she was freelance, not sure what she's doing now though.

Anyone notice David Gorrido (or however you spell it) back on News 24 sport. He started at News 24 sport but then moved to Radio 1 Newsbeat sport section. This may just be to cover holiday during the christmas / new year period.

Bits of the red sofa are on the N24 set this morning, but I haven't seen them used yet.

I've just defended the BBC's coverage of the Asian disaster so before I get too carried away I shall slip on my comfortable "bash the BBC" shoes. They're so easy to wear.

The audio on News 24 refers where I suspect that there is a problem with the sound.

During the titles at 9am we heard Anna say "to camera three?!" and then over a package we heard Julian Worricker respond to a question. During a sports package about 3 minutes ago Selena Hinchcliffe loudly enquired "is it John Hammond on the weather?!"

Now in the 10am titles the bed of music disappeared. Someone's either still on the Christmas port or there's a problem... anybody know?

Oh! And before I forget to bash... "Sky never have sound problems - the BBC have so much money and they still can't get the sound right... I don't know why we pay the licence fee - I think Sky should be projected on huge screens from outer space where thousands can gather to marvel at... etc. etc."

Do you have any idea how hard it is to run a 24-hour news gallery? A few members of this community can tell you.... so it's not just a question of getting the right money. The operators are extremely hard working and do a great job at doing what they do, so don't bash them. Most of the BBC News 24 service runs without a hitch, and in the early days of Sky News don't forget the problems were extremely severe - not to mention the set!

Not saying you don't have a right to an opinion - free speech - just don't be so harsh on the hard-working technical staff in the Gods!

James, mate - you have COMPLETELY missed my point.

The last paragraph was all tongue-in-cheek and hence the inverted commas. Didn't the bit about 'huge screens from outer space' give it away, just slightly?!

You'll be surprised to know that I do realise how difficult it is to output news 24 hours a day (*nudge *nudge *wink *wink) but there was definitely something awry sound-wise on News 24. Not least when the dulcet tones of Selina burst into a sports report with "James Hammond on the weather...?!"

And very nice it looked to. Lets hope they do decide to make Breakfast come from N24 and then we can have the sofa arranged like that.
