Yep, 12.30am and I think there is a 5.30am repeat too. CNBC also shows the NBC Nightly News at 11.30pm our time, which I think is a Live simulcast, although there tends to be alot of adverts within the programme.
Thanks very much for pointing out that the NBC Nightly News is broadcast on CNBC. I never realised this and I've always wanted to watch NBC News at home - I watched it several times while in Boston last September and thought it was rather good. Thanks again.
On the subject of the American news output's agenda, what do people think about CNN? Living in the UK, I can only watch CNN International and they seem quite balanced with their agenda, on the whole. Obviously Iraq plays a large role on CNN Intl, but it does on BBC World as well. Whilst it can be said CNN Intl does focus on some American stories, it can also be argued that BBC World has a British slant. This evening, BBC World were reporting on the Big Brother row, for instance. My question is really with regards to CNN US - what's their agenda like? Is it similar to Fox News? Or does CNN US include more international news as well?
CNN International does take CNN USA coverage for breaking US stories such as Hurricane Katrina and really important international stories - it's not as biased as Fox News but like all US News, is focused on domestic issues and Iraq. Like Fox, its shows relies on big-name personalities and flashy programmes like the Situation Room...
Watch the Daily Show with Jon Stewart for (satirical) US News coverage...
I'd say NBC News is the best in it's coverage - that's the reason why it's number one in viewers in the states from Today to Nightly News. CNBC show Nightly News live which is why there are lots of interruptions as when the US shows adverts, CNBC simply show marketboards...
CBS is stale and old, even a few months after the revamp.
I thought ABC WNT simply acts as a filler as there is no full hour news overnights - news from *.00 and programme at *.30.

It does.
BBC World opts out just after the bottom half headlines for it's own programming, whilst News 24 carries an extra few stories, sports headlines and an interactive plus. Primarily though, these 25min programmes are there to 'fill the grab'.
The only time I've seen the programming being abandoned was during Saddam's hanging but that was understandably a major news story.

The recorded programmes were also abandoned on the night the Iraq War broke out in March 2003 and, IIRC, they were also abandoned in the early hours of 12th September 2001 for coverage of the WTC attacks. IIRC, those bulletins were co-anchored, as well. However, I seem to remember that ABC World News Tonight was shown that night as an American perspective on the attacks.
