Hello Everyone,
I'm back with a new version of my WakeUpUK project. If you didn't see the old thread, this is my idea for a morning news programme based online and streamed.
Old Thread: https://www.tvforum.co.uk/thegallery/wakeupuk-41167/

Here's the video of the opening sequence (mind my dodgy narration but it didn't work without it). I have used the day after the Westminster attack as that's when I started piecing everything together.

The bit at the end would have a voice of god reading the anchor names.

I have also done 2 more to show how the ending of the opener could work. I understand using a pop song after this story isn't appropriate but it's just for an example.

Finally here are the design standards.

I hope you like it. It's taken a ridiculously long time and I've been working on components of this since September. As always I'd love to hear your feedback.
Thanks Very Happy

An overwhelming improvement on version 1, but everything is flat apart from the bottom aston which feels out of place, plus I'm no fan in the condensing of fonts be stretching them. A minor pause is needed between the last headline and date (which is in Segoe and not Yu)

I look forward to mdtauk descending on you for using the Sky font in a non-Sky mock.

As for the mock, it's not bad at all! I think there are a fair few things here that you wouldn't notice that will have taken a while to do, the key example of this being the footage throughout the headline sequences. All the cuts, fades, zooms and effects will have taken a fair while to put together. Personally I'm not a fan of such sequences (and I'm amazed GMB haven't tried it considering their US influences), particularly the 'old film' effect, but I must commend the effort all the same!

Technically it is well put together, my key wish though is that for a bit more originality here. The logo form-up at the start is in the style of NBC Today, and then the way the headlines appear is also in the Today style.

Very nice mock and love the resemblance it has to the Today look. The animations are a bit jumpy and too fast, maybe slow them down by about 0.20 seconds but overall very good look and colour scheme.

Logo is a bit odd doesn't look round, get rid of the sky font.

Can't overall rate the mock unless I see some lower thirds for after the opening sequence so would like to see how they animate first and see if it links into the opening.

Just for that, I won't say anything about it... Razz

The editing for the opening headline footage, I think it is a tad too sensationalist for my taste, but maybe I am just too old or too boring - but it seems especially insensitive with those particular stories.

Yu Gothic is not a great choice of typeface, it is used as a substitute for Japanese languages. The logo is only ok, it is a cliché as it is used for many different morning show programmes. The typography in the logo, does not seem to be reflected in the symbol.

Not keen on the name, it seems more like a title for a kids show, like Wakaday was.

そうですね?

With regards to the mock, I don't like the idea of a different theme tune being used for each hour. I think you need to pick one and stick with it for the whole show. However, I will say that it is a undeniable step up from version 1.

Amazing! I can certainly imagine this. The pop song doesn't suit the TOTH, but used in this instance makes you think "People may have died, but we're strong and carrying on."

Overall, very good.

Thanks for all of the comments so far,
Just want to address a few:

Do you suggest that I change the aston to be a solid background?

I wouldn't necessarily use all 3 in one show but the first version for serious news eg. a terrorist attack. The second version would be used most of the time and the third version only if there was a celebrity guest.

I understand that, just (being incapable of doing anything 3D that doesn't look like an ape has done it it) wasn't sure how else I could do the first scene. If you have any better ideas I'd be happy to try them.

Unfortunately I haven't got anything sorted for that yet, just a couple or rough designs which I could post if you wish.

That makes more sense, but I reckon you would be better having one and using it all the time. I think that music is part of a programme identity and if different themes are used under different circumstances, I feel it takes away part of the identity.

This is pretty decent. 4/5

A good effort overall. Some of the graphics are a bit 'rough' or unpolished, like the TOTH astons. I like the opening animation, that was very well done. However, as others have said it is a rip off of Today, something more original would have been better. The graphics are a bit big as well, and I'm not a fan of the font. Would the title sequence change for every story, as I'm wondering what relevance Westminster has to an online breakfast show? I know the background footage animations would have taken a lot of time, but I find it a little bit unnecessary and jarring, especially early in the morning (also maybe a bit distasteful considering the subject matter, but that's just my opinion). 3/5 from me.

This version seems to take its cues more from Australian TV (e.e Today headline bed and the same graphic style) but I like it. Astons were nice and clean, and made sense. Some graphics were a bit dodgy (read: the Indyref2 text staying on after the Aston formed up). The use of NBC 5's studio seemed a bit random shoved in at the end, especially given that there were no graphics on screen. All in all though, a great evolution from the original.
