I hadn't even heard about it until a MediaGuardian article the other day. Aside from the obvious legal implications, which I'm surprised haven't already brought about its downfall, it's a phenomenally easy site to use.

Digiguide-esque layout of schedules and channels, click on a "recorded" programme and it starts playing the Flash video, in decent quality. I don't know if the shows are coincidentally on-time but it generally seems to get the programme at the start of the ident/title sequence too.

Too good to be legal.

I hope it stays around though, I've recently started using 4od to catch up and this site is just brilliant.

Wow! Thanks for pointing that site out, I can't believe how much content there is!

I hope it stays around, it's useful and the video quality is excellent.

So, not just a repeat of tvlinks.co.uk then?

Dear Member

In recent days, TVCatchup has become aware of the Broadcaster's (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five) increasing concerns over the free personal recording functionality that this website offers.

On 15th February, our hosting was terminated without warning and we presume this was at the request of such Broadcasters.

Given that this will no doubt happen again, TVCatchup has therefore voluntarily suspended its services whilst the concerns of the Broadcasters are addressed.

We apologise to all for this temporary interuption to service.

This page will provide a service update as matters progress.

This is a shame - seemed like a good idea for a site.

As said in the OP, it's was obviously dubious from a legal perspective from day one. With all the trouble the broadcasters are having getting rights to set up their own catchup services, it's no surprise this has ended and I doubt they'll be able to find a legal way of staying online.

No coincidence I suppose a couple of days after this the BBC announce they are selling their programmes on iTunes after the 7-day iPlayer window - which in itself is a scandal IMO considering both ITV and C4 offer a 30-day free window for catch up programming.

All I can say it's a damn shame, this was the most useful service than iPlayer, 4OD and itv.com [spit spit] combined.
