Now a change in the advertised programme with a special Tonight on the Jill Dando Trial, followed by Granada's news at 11.20, Turning Point will be back next Monday at 10.50pm
Did GRA viewers get a announcement with Calendar and Sex Over 40 mentioned, or maybe they got Tyne Tees', and they had YTV's!
And HTV viewers are getting excited because they saw a Carlton ident tonight!, they should move to the North!

I noticed that.
Maybe YTV's announcer is ill, and they can't afford another!!!
Or CALENDAR NEWS is down, and GRANADA TONIGHT is the closest to home? There's always the possibility with CALENDAR!!!

The same announcer does Yorkshire, Granada, Tyne Tees, and possibly Border (but nobody seems to know) all at the same time.
They either do a generic one live to all regions 'Now the news from around our region'
Or record 2 of them and play them out simultaniously with a 3rd live one.
This is why on yesterday's ITV Weekend News, YTV's annoucement came on 3 seconds late and finished 3 seconds into the News!

He he, and I thought seeing a 5 minute Granda Tonight programme before Meridian Tonight in the DigiGuide listings yesterday was amusing!!!!
Wonder if any 'average' viewers take much notice to them saying Granada....
Like you say, the 'average' viewer may not have noticed the mistake, but I bet YTV are getting paranoid about those of us on here who are just waiting and listening out for this kind of thing. Safe in the knowledge that within about 10 minutes of it happening it will be appearing on this forum for the whole world to know about !!!
I guess we are providing a public service, just keeping YTV on their toes !!
Saying that though, about the 'average' viewer, I think people would notice, if before Coronation St (and yes, I know this wouldn't happen) the Carlton Ident came up and someone said '...and now on Granada....'
I suppose a lot of people are just not interested in TV presentation as much as us

YTV are falling apart
lately
? They've been this way on and off since 1993!!!!! YTV viewers may not have seen it but they went through a phase of about 3 months in 1998 where they always, and I mean always, announced the 10.30 local news as whatever programme had been on at 7.30 that night!!!
That regional centre is absolutely pathetic. Back in 1993 they played out the start of The Bill in place of the second part of a regional programme, took 5 minutes to rectify the problem and cut the local prog off 5 minutes before the end with no warning or apology. At the time they cocked up the local programme they used YTV continuity throughout to apologise, with YTV announcer, YTV programme slide (with YTV programme caption) and mentions of the name YTV repeatedly, on Tyne Tees as well!! Jonathan Morrell, TT duty anno for the night, was forced to give a grovelling apology at 8.00 in-vision for the mess, and how that must have stuck in his throat....
I could go on all night with really major balls-ups like this. They have the most basic setup in the network, and yet manage to make the worst errors, nearly always without an apology in sight.

Yes indeed, YTV have been gradually getting worse over the past 5/6 years in terms of presentation. They must have been the only region prior to GMG buying them(along with TT of course) not to use a programe slide before adverts, just an announcement over the end credits of the previous prog. And amazingly this still continues today along with Granada and possiby Border now. I also notice cock ups on the local weather from time to time especially the 1.00 lunchtime edition. To be fair there has been much better regional continiuty recently and not just before regional progs. However the mistakes do keep popping up continuity wise and the Granada Heart is still prone to the once/twice weekly appearance.

YTV's decline has it's roots in the gradual shutdown of Tyne Tees' continuity, where the North East bore the brunt of most of the cutbacks between 1993-6, and there were some horrendous mistakes, due to the fact that regardless of what YTV said they were running TT as an offshoot of a continuity suite which was mainly for YTV, therefore Yorkshire viewers didn't see most of it (although it was still pretty bad at times). In March 1996 the TT side of things was finally shut down completely and YTV then had to run the two stations with more-or-less equal resources, and the cockups were then roughly evenly divided between the two stations. Now they are running 4 stations with the same staffing levels (and budget) as they were running one station with before, and quality has suffered massively as a result. While Carlton, United, SMG and the rest have been investing in gradually improving presentation while still rationalising, YTV/Granada have never put any money into the presentation side of things, leaving a truly useless system in place. And looking at YTV's new website ( www.yorkshire-television.tv ) they appear to be proud of it!!!
