They still have the chevron on the neckties, that's the only place I saw it.

I found it strange that STV, kept Emmerdale at 7pm for a while and then around 199/5 moved it back to 5.10pm until 1998 changes, there forgot to put that on in,

I think it was only in peak time up here for 3 years including the plane crash was at 7pm, but STV treated badly, well, YTV did the same to high road

It was a bit strange thinking that I've watched 90mins of YTV's history, it all seemed to zip through quite quickly and still felt like a lot had been missed. Ultimate compliment I suppose.

Fingers crossed for a nostalgia fest on Tuesday's Calendar. A liquid gold introduction would be nice (is Calendar introduced with an ident normally?)

It was nice of them to make the effort with the series, I think if they'd have been celebrating in a couple of years there would be far less fanfare. I don't think any of us have much expectation for 2018 - especially since YTV effectively died in 2002.

There isn't usually an ident into Calendar these days.

Wonder whether Redvers Kyle introducing the programme over a clock, followed by the liquid gold frontcap would be too much to ask for? And a weather forecast from Bob Rust?

Or will we get something like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69IW-jIHXFo

I could imagine them doing weather with Bob Rust

I hope they pull out all the stops and don't just feature the basics. Also hopefully it'll be a slow news day so they can do a joint programme for both parts of the region with just a short sub-opted news round up at the start

Wouldn't it just. The perfect celebration of 40 years.

Re-edited titles, shame they couldn't have put the Calendar theme over them rather than the ITV rubbish.

Nice to see contributions from Harry and Christa on the Look North set

Nice to see a Yorkshire Television Colour Production endcap, and some old idents on the weather. Not sure what the chevron pointer thing Jon Michell is waving around the weather map is all about!

No appearance by Mike Morris! There were rumours that people including Christa didn't get on with him, perhaps they were true

I think Sid Waddell had had a few scoops before the programme. Nice to see Dickie Bird, he's hardly ever on Calendar! Laughing

There was a contribution from Fred Dineage too, Duncan commented that the set on Meridian Tonight looks familar!

Was nice to see that the Beeb had allowed a Happy Birthday message for YTV, along with the several mentions and final package for good ol' Dickie Very Happy

Although the lack of idents at the beginning showed the lack of effort to be honest. If Channel 4 could use their blocks for the entire day, I'm sure we could've had Chevrons for today aswell. Confused

I don't agree with you there. YTV have put a lot of effort into this celebration; did you see the 3-part 'YTV at 40' series? In each episode there was a (small) compilation of YTV idents through the years and they even recreated the chevron logo for the titles of the series, as well as for those special astons on Calendar. The fact that the only 'news' in tonight's Calendar consisted of old stories from the archives shows the amount of effort they put in; they spent a full 30 minutes celebrating the 40th birthday! I'm pretty sure that, had ITV not started the centralisation between 1999 and 2002, YTV would still be on top form and would have produced wonderful idents and trailers as they did for their 30th. I'm just surprised they've managed to celebrate as much as possible and the fact that they've referred to the station (mostly) as 'YTV' rather than 'ITV Yorkshire'.

Nice to hear Duncan at the end saying, "We hope to be here for many, many more weeks to come!", an obvious dig in the ribs towards ITV.
