Tonight's edition focussed more on the present day. It looks like the interior of the ITV Yorkshire reception has had a makeover, for long enough it seemed to be in a 1968 timewarp

There were also clips of Christa Ackroyd and proof that she has always worn strange outfits even whilst at YTV

Indeed, I was surprised they showed footage of Christa. For some reason I thought they were going to erase her completely from the celebrations.

And yes I also agree it was sad hearing Kathryn Apanowicz talking about the removal of the chevron. Hearing her describe Richard saying, "Well, I've had the best days" after seeing the blank space on the building really made me feel sorry for YTV and for what ITV has become. It's a shame YTV doesn't produce any serious factual documentary-type programming anymore as that seemed to its strength for so many years. At the moment the only thing they seem to produce (aside from the obvious, Calendar included) is "Wood You Believe It?", unless I'm wrong?

On the last edition of YTV at 40 tonight, the late Richard Whiteley's partner Kathryn Apanowicz mentioned what we all really knew about the YTV chevron that was at the Kirkstall Road studios. It was never blown down, ITV took it down!!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

What puzzles me about this though is if you're going to take down to old logo, why not take down the old name at the same time and put up "ITV Yorkshire"?! Although that seems to be in place now it's taken them about four years since the shevron disappeared.

It's a good job they didn't as they would have had to have taken that sign down and put a new one up when the logo changed!

Chances are they didn't replace it because they didn't know what the final naming/branding was going to be

The chevrons at the Hull offices (Prospect Centre) are still up. Very Happy

YTV in Kirkstall Road is still covered in chevrons really - there are plenty on car park signs around the back - so the front one going hasn't really changed much overall. In fact the part of the building that does drama or network production (I think) has some lovely artwork depicting montages of chevrons and "TTTV" logos, harking back to the YTTTV era, and the chevron is built into some very fancy starburst-style designs in the floor around parts of the building. So it's not going anywhere fast!

Any chance anyone could get some photos please?

Interestingly though, when Westcountry was debranded in mid-2004 after the Carlton brand was officially retired, nothing was left to chance.

The entire building was repainted in old-ITV logo blue, with blue and yellow squares all over the place to tie in with the 'blocked' logo used on screen, several 'ITV Westcountry' signs were errected which exactly matched the logo used on the endboard for regional programmes at the time. Even the flagpoles which Westcountry originally errected were retained and ITV logo'd up. It was a perfect vision of correct corporatesness...and ironically all made obsolete less than 2 years after it was done.

You'd think if a minor regional station can get such treatment in the debranding process which happened in 2004/5, then something as big as YTV would receive something more than 'we'll just take the logo off the sign, that'll do'.

Maybe that there is why? Carlton no longer meant anything in the westcountry region, it had been completely dropped, no longer existed. Whereas 'Yorkshire' was still the name of the region (and I think still called Yorkshire Television on copyright text), and therefore no reason to get rid of the word 'Yorkshire' from the building as urgently as it was to get rid of Carlton.

I'm assuming that when the Carlton brand was brought in, the Westcountry brand was completely taken down from the building/flagpoles/etc. Or is this not the case, and the building was painted in carlton colours but there were still elements of Westcountry?

I shouldn't really - there are probably all sorts of security-shaped cans of worms to be opened by publishing snaps of the insides of buildings...but rest assured they are there and don't appear to be going anywhere.

As does Sheffield's office

'Calendar South' logos in that 1990 style that they had. Yorkshire Television logos and chevrons in the style that you'd expect with the blocky big writing

Window signs have been added this decade for ITV News and Calendar News in the 3 blue squares and 1 yellow square style

As has been said it's only in the past year that ITV Yorkshire logos have gone up on signs and flags etc at Kirkstall Road, there were still loads of chevrons until then
