They've already said that the remaining Judgement Day episodes won't be shown.

You see, I just don't understand that, they've gone to all that trouble, researchers, producers, presenters, contestants, audience, all the technicians and because the show didn't get the ratings that was expected, they spit the dummy out and shelve it altogether.

Judgement Day wasn't a bad show, it was entertaining, they really didn't give it any chance, why not try a different slot. If it didn't work on Saturday night, Sunday teatime was crying out for this kind of show.

I never got round to watching it myself (maybe that was the problem other ITV viewers didn't see it either) so I don't know what it was like, they might as well at least show it on ITV2, but you don't know what goes on in these meetings when they decide what to show!

The reason for this is the programme isn't "paid for" on the budget until it is broadcast.

There are dramas which were made a few years ago that still haven't been broadcast because it would be too expensive to do so.

Well talking about revamped home video programmes, everyone's favourite Sky One alternative has revamped again. Yup Kirsty's Home Videos was back tonight for a new series, with a completely new look, the titles now looking more like Tomb Raider (Kirsty seemed to look like Lare Croft for some reason) and the rather good music has been dropped too. Though during the show they didn't overuse the canned laughter, they overused the canned applausing. But compared to other editions of the show, this was very different.

Though talking about revamps, I wonder how different YBF will be now?

Well you'll have to explain to me further. Are you saying that the production company made this show for love, and won't get paid until it's aired ? Won't ITV have already paid for the show to be commissioned regardless of whether it's been aired. And in any case, you're not telling me that they haven't paid any contestants their winnings because the show hasn't gone out. I'm afraid you'll need to explain to me further.

Well I don't get that either, it's either paid for or it isn't regardless of it having been aired. I mean how did they make the thing in the first place, they must have been given a budget. And anyway that's drama, this a quiz show, and you haven't answered my point about them not paying out the winner then.

The same applies to all shows. ITV has paid for them, but the amount paid doesn't appear on the accounts until it is broadcast.

For example, if ITV looked as if they were going to go over budget in 2003, three expensive dramas could be replaced by repeats of Midsomer Murders. The three expensive dramas would then be shelved until ITV could afford to include them in the budget.

That sort of makes sense: ITV cut some dramas from the schedule to pay for the Iraq coverage, so they obviously don't pay until its shown.

So, was the You've Been Framed which was shown yesterday the new one, or the Lisa Reilly one?

...and an extremely old one for that too. The heavily overweight, cartoon tapes and cringe-worthy opening titles era of 2000 with the bubble walls on set.

How they can pass that off as "New You've Been Framed" is beyond me.
