Just a few words to say that I like the new look very much. I think that it's a nice change from the usual type of set that regional news shows have.

It'll be interesting to see how it works when both Christine and Duncan are in the studio.

Oh, and if anyone from Calendar is reading this, please don't deprive us Emley viewers of Faye Barker!! We want her at six as well as later.

Well Nicola was in the studio for the late bullitin and seated aroiund the back of the desk where you'd expect the presenter to sit, and we saw the other end of the desk and a wall there too. From the other angle you can see that the desk is pointy at one end but the other end is flat. It looks so much better haveing the presenters infront of the blue 'newsroom' image than the orange/blue thing.

Christine appears to be reading the news from a Tupperware box.

Looks more like a Perspex bath-tub to me... will we have Christine and Darren sitting in it whilst doing the late edition totally starkers?

Even then, it wouldn't get me watching..... loyalties already sorted..... speaking of which...

On the introduction to the Belmont Look North, Helen's being announced with her new surname now. It's "Look North with Helen Fospero and Peter Levy". fospero is pronounced 'foss-PEAR-oh', emphasis on the pear.

Serving an area from Whitby in Nth Yorkshire through to Lincolnshire and down to Kings Lynn in Norfolk is a vast region covering part of the North, East Midlands and East. Calendar is a neutral name

Well they cannot really call it Yorkshire News, Yorkshire Tonight or whatever, as people are watching Yorkshire TV in Lincolnshire and Humberside. You cannot really call it North East or North really. So they use it as it isn't being biased to Yorkshire. The name Calendar has been used for decades and has had many spin offs like Calendar Lunchtime Live, Calendar Commentary, Good Morning Calendar and Calendar Countdown.

It's all very well their regional programmes being given the neutrality of the "Calendar" name, so as to not be biased to Yorkshire. But this is completely contradicted by the actuall station/company (whatever) having always been called "Yorkshire Television". How can they have always been quite happy for the channel's name to ignore the non-Yorkshire parts of it's region, yet not so with the regional programmes on that channel?

The good thing nowadays is that single-identity ITV1 makes this situation virtually irrelevent.

Because the regional variation of the idents has "Yorkshire" written as a plain caption, rather than as the company logo, it makes it looks (to a non-presentation enthusiast) like it is meant in the context of being a geographical description of the region, rather than being the former company name. In which case, "Yorkshire and Lincolnshire" would be more appropriate.

I hope this long-standing problem will finally be ended within the forseeable future, as I suspect that untimately the ITV1 English regions will drop the former company names in favour of geographical ones (e.g. ITV1 Granada will become ITV1 North West; ITV1 Anglia will become ITV1 East etc).

Indeed and isn't bizzare that short bulletins have a red background but short but not that short bulletins have a blue background!

I wonder if Faye will be staying on South now. As an Emley viewer this will be good as although Faye is a good presenter, I'm fed up of her doing the Emley local news every night when East and South get loads of different people

Calendar Countdown.

Sounds like one of ITV1's new year programs.

I see why though.

No this is the Channel 4 programme Countdown use to be on Yorkshire Television. It was called Calendar Countdown, way before Channel 4 was born.

Well Faye Barker, but I'm sure it's only an accidental spelling mistake on your part.

With the local news presenters graphic being now much more simplier, I wonder if that means it is now done live

Also Duncan tonight was in the studio, first stood up, then sat at the end of the desk, then stood up, then later sat behind the desk, the same place as his studio guests were sat earlier

Tommorow he's off to Cleethorpes and Christine is in the studio!

USUAL NEWS ALERT BY NOW: I had a FIFTH e-mail read out by Peter Levy on the Belmont Look North!! About my going on holiday and taping all of the programmes while I'm away! He said "Have we found the saddest Look North fan?"

He hasn't said anything about me that I don't know already!! Bit of a surprise given it wasn't too long ago that I had my fourth read out!

What is the actual point of taping news while you're on holiday Katherine? I can't say I'm surprised, but it is slightly odd don't you think?
