... moving on, I'd just thought I'd mention that recently, I visited the National Museum of Photography, film and television, and watched an the 25th anniversary Calendar in one of the booths, from 1993. I have to say the set looked much better in the 1993-1996 era (3 years!), mainly because it was presented from the newsroom.

Yes it was a good look, They moved from a desk to a coffee table or vica versa at some point whilst in the Newsroom.
And a clip on The Continuity Booth shows Christa Ackroyd presenting from a desk on the newsroom floor rather than up on the stage. I wonder if the stage is still there.
Also, have you noticed how Gaynor etc keep complaining that the Calendar studio is freezing, I thought most TV Studios were usually red hot!

Yes the in the newsroom era was one of Calendars best looks in my opinion. They would do well to go back to that kind of set-up today.
I also rather liked the early 90's studio, which had 2 rather large circular style desks, they where like islands. The main presenter got to sit next the screen in the wall. I thought the version of the theme tune they had back then was one of the best, I especially liked the fact that the headlines were part of the titles. And they didn't mind having 2 male presenters back then, Geoff Druet and Richard Whiteley used to present quite regularly.
I think on reflection, it would be time for Calendar to introduce a fresh new look, and bring in some new talent.

Well lets have a look at what I've downloaded over the years:
1993 Presented by Richard Whiteley and Christa Ackroyd from the Newsroom with a coffee table (Chess clock at start) See
http://www.continuity-booth.co.uk/ytv5.html and click on the picture of the chess clock
Tue 12 Sept 1995 Presented by Richard Whiteley and Christine Talbot. This was from the Round the Regions site so may not be available anymore
Fri 22 Dec 1995 Presented by Christa Ackroyd and Nick Powell from the newsroom floor. See same link but you want the file just to the right of the Debbie and Jon one
and then see TV ARK for a clip of the 1996 short lived purple look

What is the geographical spread of the YTV weather forecasters? I know that you can receive them in Tyne Tees and Border regions as well as Yorkshire. Also when I was in Manchester last year I received Jon Mitchell so Granada shows the quintet as well. What about fuzzy geographical areas such as North Staffordshire and North Derbyshire as well as Lincolnshire; do they also receive these five forecasters? Edinburgh is too far north surely?
Also do YTV ever show reports from Tyne Tees TV and if so which reporters have you received ? I imagine that you will receive TTTV reports from Teeside but I imagine that the North of this area i.e Newcastle may be a bit too far away. Correct me if I'm wrong. I ask because TTTV have featured reports from Jon Hill, Frazer Maude and Gemma Calleja recently, all of whom work for Calendar.
I can't hear myself think............it's Christa drumming again in the background !

Well Look North made a bit of a cockup this lunchtime
As usual the bulletin started as usual '...presented by Clare Frisby' cue shot of Clare sat at desk in a black outfit.
I thought these headlines look familar!
Then after the titles, cue Clare in pink saying "Sorry they were the wrong headlines"
Yes they went and played Friday's headlines sequence!

How much of an average 1830 LN is live? A lot of the studio based interviews look to me as if they are pre-recorded
