Yes and from a quick glance the promo seems to suggest there won't be a laughter track?

Well from my recording, they were encouraging laughter from the audience

The all new Yes Prime Minister will be on at 9pm

The new series of Yes, Prime Minister was made for a rival channel because the BBC asked its creators to make a pilot episode, it has emerged. Co-writer Jonathan Lynn said the BBC had been given first refusal on the revival out of "courtesy", because it aired the award-winning original. But he called the request for a test episode "extraordinary", as "there were 38 pilots available on DVD"...............................

That doesn't sound promising then - surely it should come naturally. Anyway, hope it flops considering the arrogance of the writers in reaction to the BBC's completely reasonable request for a pilot.

The Bottom guys were in a similar mind some time back, talking about how the process to commission a show was so annoying today compared to how it was

They played some clips on John Piennar's show on 5 Live on Sunday night - sounded surprisingly good. I was worried it was going to be dire.

Just had a listen and noticed that the fire alarm went off and took the show off air for a while (apparently for a second time during the show). They played out a bunch of promos instead. Does Piennar do that show from Salford?

I believe it comes from Millbank which makes sense as Carolyn Quinn mentioned the fire alarm had been going off but all was sorted for Radio 4s The Westminster Hour.

If the idea is good enough I'm sure the commissioning of it would be too. Commissioning a revival of series which often weren't as popular as the people involved like to think should be a tough process, especially for the BBC, as it's only fair that new shows get a fair chance of being picked up rather than not even getting their foot in the front door due to an old revival being picked up solely on rose-tinted memories of the original.

There's now a new promo being played out which uses a laughter track. It seems the footage in the previous promo (which has been annoyingly overplayed) was recorded specifically.
