So tonight was fun. We were in Studio 8 in the Spur. Anyone know if its HD equiped?

A few technical issues which resulted in retakes, but the Actor's performed wonderfully, and especially Henry Goodman with Sir Humphrey's convoluted dialogue!

The cast were:
David Haig as Jim Hacker (you may know him as Inspector Grim from The Thin Blue Line)
Henry Goodman as Sir Humphrey Appleby
Chris Larkin as Bernard Woolley
Zoe Telford as Claire Sutton Jim Hacker's SPAD (I loved her in Absolute Power!)
and guesting as a Paxman style news interviewer - Tim Wallers

OH and a small cameo from Sophie Rayworth and the BBC News backdrops!
SP
Steve in Pudsey
Yeah I think TC8 is HD capable.

They didn't play any opening titles, and the version of the theme they played was obviously MIDI, so I assume a proper theme will be recorded or the original reused, and the Opening titles are to come.

I wonder if Gerald Scarfe will be commissioned to work on the new opening?

One of the more interesting moments was the fact that John Sargent was the warm-up host for the evening, giving us anecdotes throughout the night, and Johnathan Lynn was there with his family and I believe Antony Jay was in the gallery.

They also recorded a small piece on the news set which is due for episode 5. As soon as shooting was done, the news set was being struck, but I assume the Chequers set will be kept standing and another small set will be put in place of the news one for Episode 2.

There were 3 VT segments played out on the screens, mostly in a car, but the bulk of the episode was in Chequers, and it was basically the same set from the original show, and the stage play.

Looks like a good cast, although the after The Thick Of It, I'm not sure why I can imagine David Haig saying anything other than "Would it seem terribly rude if I asked you to sh it off?"

I wont spoil it, but one of the jokes involves him saying horrible things Smile - I can't help but see him as Inspector Grim...

Indeed. I love watching Yes, Prime Minister repeats on Gold (they start over again tonight) but whilst some of the policy issues are similar to today, a lot of it feels very of it's time. I like it like that.

I have to agree that The Thick of It has really taken up the mantle of today's spin, PR, media-obsessed political parody and just can't see Jim Hacker being able to convince me he could do it any better.

Whilst I wait to be convinced, I think I'll just enjoy a bit more of Steve Fleming.
