Just caught up on the latest episode and I've decided I won't watch anymore. I'm finding it too unpleasant unfortunately.

I know RTD has had a very difficult time personally over the last couple of years and can't help but feel this is a bit of an F.U to the world as a result. Overall it's just not enjoyable to watch.

I think the message that will become clear is that of history repeating itself. There is a clear parallel being drawn between Viv Rook and the early days of Hitler. Understand it’s not comfortable but I think it’s a very important point to make and it’s brave of him to do so in this way.

Without wishing to invoke Godwin’s Law, I’ve suspected for a while that Western Europe will struggle to go 100 years without another major conflict

So, in the future:
Reith hasn't been fully introduced
Dermot O'Leary hosts the election coverage
BBC News 24 returns
ITV News Channel returns

and both news channels now have 2 logos on screen at all time. Speaking of the logos, the 24 in the BBC news one is slightly bigger than the BBC News text. Stylistic choice or mistake?

Rather apt the series finale of this is scheduled after the next Prime Minister debate.

They've slid in a couple of topical references in previous episodes - there's a radio announcement in episode one about the death of Doris Day, which happened the day before broadcast. I wonder if they'll manage to sneak in another if one of the candidates says or does something ridiculous during the debate...

But that was to demonstrate it was currently 2019 on the show. They’re up to near on 2030 now.

Is Oneness still around in 2030?

I have a pit in my stomach now from just thinking about the concept of that being a possibility...

Caught up with and finished Years and Years tonight and although it took me more time to get into it than a lot of TV series of late, on the whole I think it was actually an exceptional bit of television.

At times it was frankly unpleasant to watch because, as others here have said, it hits close to home and can be a bit too real. There was plenty NOT to enjoy.

But ultimately I found it challenging and towards the end utterly gripping - it won't get the recognition it deserves and it's flopped ratings-wise but I think it was a really great commission from the BBC. Well acted, scored, directed and edited as well.

I love it when TV shows focus on content that hits close to home. Take Bodyguard for example, that was being broadcast at the height of terrorist threat. It allows for gripping and disturbingly realistic television, that of which often tends to leave you contemplating real life and the shadow it casts on media and its subsequent output.

I really enjoyed the whole series, such a shame it only average overall about 1.6million. I wonder if iPlayer hits are bigger for it?

Definitely seems like the type of show that would’ve gained a following on Netflix or Channel 4. Maybe even BBC Two instead.

Spooky bit this week about the BBC closing down in 2029 after the government ditch the charter and licence fee - surely a very real possibility after the events of the last week. (Although I can imagine they’d try and save it through different means instead of just closing down if the licence fee no longer existed).
